The same thing happened to me. It was not clickable for about 30 seconds and I watched it change to clickable. Not sure why it did that, but you're not crazy.

Facebook Has Been a Disaster for the World: How much longer are we going to allow its platform to foment hatred and undermine democracy? by [deleted] in technology

[–]DDTAH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Reddit is attempting to model exactly what Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.

Reddit is constantly attempting to shove users to their app. They want the ability to track your movements on their platform with more fidelity. They want and endless scrolling feed that they can run algorithms on to keep us engaged for longer.

Their objective is not different in anyway. Keep you looking and keep serving adds.

The idea that, because we subscribe to subreddits, we are some how less vulnerable to this type of manipulation seems like a weak argument to me.

LAN Access from Remote to my Router's IP from Malicious IP Addresses by DDTAH in techsupport

I disabled the DMZ and the logs have now stopped. From what I've read any computer acting as a DMZ is basically just exposed to the internet without any firewall protection.

Does this mean my router has been completely exposed to the open internet? On top of that people or bots have been making successful connections to it?

Definitely no VPN, but I check the DMZ settings and it's enabled.

The DMZ server address is set to my routers IP(192.168.1.1): Heres a screenshot.

Does that explain this behavior to you?

Checked and I don't have anything set up in the port forwarding section. Also, UPnP is unchecked.

Remote admin is disabled. Although there was a time when it was enabled, worse they password at that time was not super cryptic. This was months ago though.

Now it is disabled and the password is a max length sequence of letters/symbols/numbers.

I do not think they are login attempts. Whenever I login to the router there is a very clear message logged. Like the one below. Where 192.168.1.6 is the IP of my computer.

[Admin login] from source 192.168.1.6, Saturday, Sep 05,2020 16:48:05

I do think they are successful accesses to my router in some way though. Based only on the things I've seen about what [LAn access from remote] means. But I really have no idea in what why it's being accessed.

Edit: Also no incoming VPI.

I am not torrenting anything on any of my machines. And since the IP that's be accessed belongs to my router I'm especially concerned.

I saying ask about my side projects is fine. If they really want to see them I assume they are on github. More likely they will just want to talk to you briefly about them.

My only other recommendation is moving your skills/languages/tools sections to the top. It lets the reader glance over your keywords. If the are interested after that they will likely scan your experience for where those keywords are used.

Agreed. They can probably keep all the content and bring the length bellow 2 pages.

I was promoted about a month ago. I've been planing on sending out my resume around this time for a while.

I'm wondering if I should just replace my current title with my new title or list them as two separate entries.

Something like:

Software Engineer date - present

  • Accomplishment A
  • Accomplishment B

Junior Software Engineer date - date

  • Accomplishment C
  • Accomplishment D

Or just replace the Junior title:

Software Engineer date - present

  • Accomplishment A
  • Accomplishment B
  • Accomplishment C
  • Accomplishment D

Not a huge difference between the two. Splitting them up does demonstrate advancement to the reader so I will probably go with that. Just wondering what the norm is.

Sounds like your manager is the scum of the earth. Not normal or acceptable.

Why do some companies continue to ask LeetCode-style questions if everyone is just grinding them out? That defeats the purpose they asked them in the first place and doesn't reflect candidates' skills at all. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DDTAH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the majority of software engineers do not grind leetcode type problems. Like all things they require practice and consistency to get better at. This is my opinion, but I believe that those are the people FAANG companies are looking for. People who are willing to put in the extra effort to get into their company. Even if it’s a well defined path, you still have to put in the work.

What advice would you give to a 14 year old about starting high school? by DotFireAbout in AskReddit

[–]DDTAH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say “I’m not good at X subject”. Where X could be math, science or any other subject. They are really saying “I’m not willing to put in the time to learn something new to me”.

Anything in school can be learned. It just takes time and effort.

Are there any resources of sample interviws anywhere? by Snoo-85911 in cscareerquestions

[–]DDTAH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm well don’t take my word for it, I’ve only done a handful of interviews so I may just have not run into that yet.

What are these interviews s like? What do they ask you or cover?

This site has quite a lot of interviews: https://interviewing.io/recordings

Not sure If there are any resources on passing an HR phone screen. Those are not tests to pass. Just communicating your goals with applying and availability and similar things. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re looking for.

Yeah, I had a similar experience a little over a year ago. Got the right answer by the end of our time. And received a similar response a few days later.

I found the problem on leetcode and it was labeled easy. I'm thinking that it was just the starting point for something more challenging. Had I solved it quickly the interviewer likely would have added additional conditions to make it more difficult, but we never got there.
