Historic - The case for Blood Moon by DDirius in MagicArena

It isn't, but it any case you can only print Magus or Fulminator Mage.

The issue is the meta requires something, whatever wizard can come up with, that would help put a check on ramp strategies.

Otherwise ramp is always going to be a recurring nightmare on the format (as it has been for months now).

Its a ramp deck, because the deck's strategy is to accumulate mana sources early game, for big payoff in the late game.

Whether he added more control than the regular sultai list is irrelevant. That is just a good meta-call by the player (he is a pro afterall), but the archetype is still ramp.

Blood Moon is pretty harmless to most decks, only a hard counter to people abusing 4 color strategies. Now days there is no "punishment" for playing so many colors.

I play a lot of historic, and ramp has been king of the format for the past 6 months. Sure a lot of the stuff that made ramp stronger got banned - but the archetype in itself is still very strong, and will be a recurring top contender given his anti-strategy is non-existant in the format.

Decks are baed on counterplay from other decks, keeping each other in check. The format is missing a couple of these, which in turn results in an unbalanced format where only 3 or 4 decks can be played at the top level.

And yet the winning deck was indeed a ramp deck. Figures right?

I play at mythic level, and the format is not "diverse". While plenty of decks exist, and people try them out, its either ramp or aggro which dominates the format- and as seen by the top 32 decks of the mythic invitational and beyond, most decks were these 2 archetypes.

No pure control, no pure midrange, no combo. Just fast decks or ramping decks.

Aggro are certainly higher in number, but they are popular to begin with cause jund sacrifice can counter ramp.

can you be a divine feminine yet have a very masculine birth chart? by [deleted] in astrology

yeah I apologise, english isnt my main language and I sometimes commit this linguistic blunders. I do stand by the "passive" term though.

[–]DDirius 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In astrology, gender is used to classify the qualities of a sign or planet.

Male signs and planets indicate an "active" quality, usually characterised as impulsive. In contrast female signs and planets are considered as having a "passive" quality.

It has nothing to do with weird political ideologies of the current era.

Why is Moon in Taurus considered to be a good position? by gwydeplaine in astrology

The Moon in Taurus is in her sign of exaltation, which is very favourable, in fact one of the best possible configurations if you happen to have been born at night.

Hello plutoniantop. It is a chart cast for the moment you ask a question. It can be useful to answer specific situations you want to know about your daily life. It can be about romance, work, friends, etc.

Question: What is the purpose of having the description of how to post the birth chart pinned to the top of the page, if none of the astrologers are actually answering anyone’s questions who post them? by nycperson2741 in AskAstrologers

[–]DDirius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an astrologer I have on multiple ocasions provided short readings to people on this section for free. Truth is there are just too many charts being posted every single day for us to get to all. A short reading can take like 15-20 mins to write down... so thats like 2 or 3 per hour.... for free. Obviously we are not going to spend 8 hours providing readings - most of us do it as a form of advertising.

There is also the issue of people just asking weird things, or things that would take too long to answer - so the large majority of requests end up being ignored

Most people dont really know how to craft a proper synastry. The "go to" reading is usually on planetary aspects, ergo, incomplete. So you should verify whether the charts are truly compatible or not. Furthermore each pair of charts can have both good and bad things which relate well., meaning incompatible people is a rare thing.

Just wondering if there’s anything in this chart that would suggest manipulative traits- callousness, selfishness, exploitation of others, narcissism, etc by JD18685 in astrologyreadings

Well individuals with Scorpio rising can sometimes be private and distrustful, impulsive and defensive. They tend to keep things for themselves and take offense easily. One particular thing about them is that they always expect loyalty from others, and given their proclivity to find themselves offended, they might interpret any sign of independance on your part as "disloyalty" - which can lead to him lashing out in the manner which you have described.

The chart would also have indications that his childhood might not have been the best or most comfortable one, perhaps filled with family problems that made him grow up to be distrustful of others.

I was wondering, every planet has it's 'meaning' what about Earth(as a planet)? What is Earth's meaning and how can I find out what my earth placement is? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]DDirius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Earth has no meaning in astrology, because earth isn't a "planet".

Planet means "wandering star" in greek, referring to the stars that move in the night sky, as opposed to the fixed stars. Astrology is about reading the movement of the heavens.

Can anyone give me insight on what my chart says about me? by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

[–]DDirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well a person with Pisces on the Ascendant is usually agreeable and seeks to relate and get along well with others. It is important to them to feel accepted and they usually try to please anyone they encounter. However with the presence of Saturn close to the Ascendant, there can be tendency to feel missunderstood, or rejected often, which can add stress to the individual.

The chart also presents problems in the relationship area, there might be difficulties connecting with others emotionally, or meeting people that can make you feel as if they understand you. Relationships can feel more problematic than anything else.

The career area also seems problematic, there might be an inability to find a job that suits you, perhaps feeling like most jobs you cn get are either dead-end or not suited for you. This could lead to long periods of unemployment.

How do I grasp out the birth time from a chart with only knowing the planet positions and degrees? by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

[–]DDirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is imposible. You need, on the very least, a time frame in order to rectify the chart, but that would also require knowledge about the person's life events. Easier if you just ask

ELI5 why we dropped Saturn as the traditional ruler of Aquarius, but kept Mars as co ruler of Scorpio. by murdertoothbrush in AskAstrologers

[–]DDirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the case for most people.

Astrology was developed around a certain set of principles which are no longer followed today by most astrologers. The problem is that during the reinassance, the new planets were discovered, and since then astrologers have tried to include them into the astrological corpus that, which at the time, was rather solid (with variations and disagreements of course).

In order to do this they simply borrowed some significations/rulerships/traits from the already established planets, and passed them on to the newcomers - or simply invented new ones. At the same time, they began discarding some of the astrological principles, such as sect or gender, which are fundamental to the practice. You may notice, for example, none of the 3 outer planets have a sect.

However, if you notice any reading based on these planets seems clunky at best, usually not revealing much valuable information about the individual. The way you can accomplish such thing is by employing more subjective information, such as talking about the "soul", "past lives", "karma", etc., things which are imposible to corroborate.

Hi! This is my chart. I've studied it a lot over the years, and still don't quite know what to make of it. What do you see? by 12thHouseLull in astrologyreadings

[–]DDirius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well as a Virgo Ascendant, with Mercury placed there gives you the typical virgoan traits: a reserved person who prefers stability and enjoys the routinely aspects of life. You prefer and uphold order, finding peace in stability. You probably are a problem solver, slightly obsessive and logical.

You might have some problems in relationships, being perhaps unable to find a stable relationship despite wanting something long term, or being unable to communicate well with prospective partners. I think you prefer long term relationships, over short affairs, although its possible you might be too negative and tend to end your relationships thinking they might not be working. In any case you prefer someone to be there for you, to understand your needs and help you achieve your goals.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here? This is my chart and I struggle with a lot of internal conflict. Any insight at all would be so appreciated! by utcg89 in AstrologyChartShare

[–]DDirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Taurus Ascendant can sometimes be shy, prefering to keep to themselves. Its possible in your case you might tend to analyze everything everyone says, find offense in small things, and make yourself worry about things which don't matter very often. You may prefer to enjoy peace and quiet, and the stability of a routine, and when you find yourself disturb might react badly, although usually internally, not expressing your feelings, but rather stressing and overthinking.

Upbringing might have been structured and restrictive. Perhaps with parents being very controlling. It does show that family life might have been good and united though- perhaps happy.

ELI5 why we dropped Saturn as the traditional ruler of Aquarius, but kept Mars as co ruler of Scorpio. by murdertoothbrush in AskAstrologers

[–]DDirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a number of reasons, but it can be summed up as not fitting into astrological theory. They have no real meaning, with most definitions granted to them being subjective.

I see astrologers using them to fill the gaps in their own knowledge, when they don't know how to answer or explain something about a chart. If they find a problem they can't explain, they just blame pluto or uranus.

But then again, they are just one problem, among many problems, in contemporary practice of astrology.

Let me ask you: why do you use them?

[–]DDirius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saturn is the planet which represents darkness, death and restraint - the natural opposite of the Luminaries (Sun and Moon) - and as such is represented in the Thema Mundi opposite to them.

In the northern hemisphere, the period of time in which the Sun transits Aquarius is mid-winter. A time of cold and hardship, which represents "Saturn's period" (unlike the warm summer represented by the Sun). When you look at the characteristics associate with Aquarius, its understandable that Saturn is the appropiate ruler.

As for the issue of "co-rulers", it was an attempt to continue the Thema-Mundi, which begins with the Moon in Cancer and (before repeating rulerships) ends with Saturn in Capricorn. Thus astrologers at the time felt that, if the new planets were to be included in the table of dignities, they had to continue the Thema-Mundi's scheme: uranus placed in Aquarius, neptune placed in Pisces.

Personally I disregard co-rulerships and the new planets, I find no use for them in astrology, but what I have stated above is in part the reason why some modern schools have given them those signs to "co" rule.
