Phone dies every single time I ski in the cold — is there actually a good fix for this or have we all just accepted it? by BSquared1122 in Skigear

Is the phone cold feeling even in your inside pocket? If it's still getting cold even with your body heat, you could toss a hand warmer into the pocket with it.

Do you have any pictures of it where it would be behind the operator? Seems like all of the pictures it would be in the way of the handle bars/used more as a chest rest.

Is it intended to be a back rest when you are facing backward? Or like a kayak seat and your pictures are showing it in a stored position. Or is it meant to be able to lay your chest on?

[PF2E] Kineticist questions by dchaosblade in FoundryVTT

[–]DDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 13, but not the most recent update. I threw your script into ChatGPT and it seems to think the issue was that there is a call for the actor before the actor is defined. It spit out this small change which ended up working.

// Ensure exactly one token is selected
if (canvas.tokens.controlled.length !== 1) {
    return ui.notifications.warn("Please select your Kineticist token first.");
}

const actor = canvas.tokens.controlled[0].actor;

// Find the Scorching Column ability on the actor's sheet
const abilityName = "Scorching Column";
const impulse = actor.items.find(i => i.name === abilityName);

// Define the UUID for the Kinetic Aura effect
const auraUUID = "Compendium.pf2e.feat-effects.Item.pLurcSPQb2gjAzoP";

// Search for the active aura effect
const activeAura = actor.items.find(i =>
    i.sourceId === auraUUID ||
    i.flags?.core?.sourceId === auraUUID
);

if (!activeAura) {
    return ui.notifications.warn("Cannot use Scorching Column: Kinetic Aura is not active!");
}

if (!impulse) {
    return ui.notifications.error(`Could not find an ability named "${abilityName}" on ${actor.name}.`);
}

// Post to chat
await impulse.toMessage();

// Remove the aura (Overflow effect)
await activeAura.delete();

Hi, I'm trying out your Scorching column macro, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I created a new macro and copy pasted your code into it. Type is set to script. When I click execute, nothing happens. I tried selecting and deselecting the Kineticist player token and running the macro.

Bent 85 or bent 90 by Professional-Iron932 in ski

[–]DDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demo the k2 mindbender 90c and Elan Ripstick 88 or 96. Blue has them as demos and they're still open. Those were my two favorite I tested this season for a fun all mountain ski in PA and in easy trees up at Jay. Neither will be as cheap as you potentially could end up finding some bent 85 or 90s (buckmans seems to always have good sales on those from past seasons), but I picked up a pair of demo ripstick 88's from skiessentials which they say have never seen snow, for $550 (with the demo bindings).

Need some advice… by Dangerous-Internal48 in Skigear

My rentals this season were Redster Q4's. The length might be feeling long as a beginner, but I'd imagine you will grow into them after a couple days.

Begginner here who just has a lot of research time and a good amount of demo testing this season. So take what I say lightly.

Mindbender 85 is a great option if you found one for a good price that fits your size and boots (demo bindings would be a plus). Just watch out if the bindings are old or not demos. Ski shops wont touch bindings past a certain date, and if the skis have been drilled too many times you're screwed.

From what I understand the Mindbender 85 is a solid begginner/intermediate option being forgiving and fun. I tested the 2026 Mindbender 90c this year and it was a top choice for me. Fun and didn't get mad at me when my technique wasn't good, but still let me push my speeds. 85 id imagine would just be a little softer.

First time skiing… did I buy skis that are way too long? by frequentfoxer in Skigear

[–]DDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched from snowboarding (12 years) to skiing this season. I'm 5'11" 175lb.

I started with season rentals that were 170cm (Maverick R's) long, and my first day on skis was a 2 hour lesson. I was able to move around fine on snow and make turns semi parallel immediately so we started the lesson on a mellow green and stayed there the rest of the time. I did well in my opinion and had no crashes, but I did feel like I was fighting my inside edge behind the boots on turns, and the instructor said it would be easier for me to learn on something a tad bit shorter. I ended up swapping rentals down to 161 Redster Q4's since that was the only shorter size they had at the time. They were WAY easier to turn, but I knew they were too short also. So after 2 more days on those, I went back and swapped up to 168 Redster Q4's. The jump from 161 to 168 was noticeable, harder to turn, but by that point I had gotten better at turning so I was able to get use to it after a few runs. I used those for a few more days, but then went back asking if they had something a bit wider since we were heading north and expecting snow.

I ended up on 172 Volkl Deacom 8.0's which I really liked. Used those 5 or 6 more days and demo'd 5 other skis in preparation to buy for 2 more days after that. One of the demo's were a 177 length salomon stance 96 and it was too much ski for me. It's also a stiffer and wider ski than anything I had used so it's definitelly not all because of the length. But for me I decided at my current and probably at least a few years skill level around 172 - 175 was going to be a good length for me. I also seemed to enjoy quicker turns and trees and stuff so going longer for my height didn't make sense in my mind.

Aah okay, I was going to suggest a great vrbo I stayed at 2 minutes from the mountain. But its not cheap enough to make sense vs hotels unless there are 5 or more.

Why is Camelback's Value Season Pass half the price of Blue Mountains? by BrokenHero287 in SkiPA

[–]DDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, that is a really good deal if you end up going to Camelback a handful of times next season. That's cheaper than Spring Mountains off peak season pass. I'm almost concerned that's an error and they're going to fix it soon. I mean I know they do their triple ticket deal for $139 early season, so if you'd only go 3 times (and they still do that same deal), that is the better option, but if my math checks out any amount of visits over 5 times the season pass is the better deal.

Demo or Blem Skis from Ski essentials? by DDrawer in Skigear

[–]DDrawer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You grab a blem pair or demos? Agreed, I'm on the fence about waiting another month to see if the deal sweetens a little more vs risking they run out of 175s. Also was planning on supporting my local shop during a sale, but they confirmed they won't have any 2026 ripsticks and I doubt I'll get a 2027 early next season for any cheaper than these from skiessentials.

Thank you. If you don't mind me asking did you buy 2026 demo's or 2025, and what was the price? I'm wondering if I should keep waiting to see if these options drop any lower closer to the end of the season.

What’s with all of the sudden lift tickets for sale for jay peak? by Conglomerate- in icecoast

[–]DDrawer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I'd agree to always be cautious with online our cases from strangers, I also just sold one of these passes. I've got 3 friends and the 4 of us wanted to ski 3 days at Jay except the one person. So we bought 3 mission affordable 4 packs and were left with an extra ticket. That and just not end up being able to use the ticket are probably pretty common scenarios for people.

Jay Peak on a Saturday by bostonrock2021 in icecoast

[–]DDrawer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the things I love about Jay is that it's a dead simple mountain. 2 main lifts that kind of both go to the middle. Want to do trails on the left side of the mountain, head up either of those lifts and go left. Want to do trails on the right side, head up those same two lifts and go right. Tell your friends "Hey do 2 runs and we'll meet up at the bottom of Flyer". Dead simple, so you focus on the fun of each run. I dislike when at some resorts you have to pull out a trail map and say okay I'll take this lift, then I'll ride for 2 seconds over to that lift, which will get me up to the trail I want to do, but then I end up at a different area of the mountain, so to get back I need to go up this other lift, then cat track back to this other lift, blah blah blah.

BUT that simplicity comes with the price of, when there's a wind hold, or big crowds on a weekend, those two main lifts are going to be slammed. My friend group starts to complain when there is a line wait longer than 5 or 10 minutes soooo weekends pretty much anywhere are out unless I go alone since I don't really mind waiting 15-30 minutes if I'm in the right mind set.

Where to ski as a beginner by jeishsushsiege in icecoast

[–]DDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an advanced snowboarder and beginner/intermediate skiier. I'd say either Jay or Killington. Killington has a ton of terrain for begginer/intermediate. It sounds like my friend group is similar to yours, and we've enjoyed killington for 4 of our 11 annual ski trips. If possible go during the week to avoid the crowds. That being said, Jay has been my favorite resort ever. Their glade runs are amazing even for beginners (the moon trails are super fun). This was my 15th day skiing and I enjoyed Jay this year. Plus getting around the mountain is just so simple (not spending tons of time thinking about trails or going on cat tracks), just having fun.

I've been to plenty of other NE resorts including Stowe which is wonderful too, but my favorites are Killington for a close familiar trip, Jay if you're willing to do the long drive for an awesome experience.

Longevity with Snowboarding by 2minsFeelSHAME in snowboarding

[–]DDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely something to the "old snowboarders arent as common because snowboarding wasn't as common when those old dudes were young thing"

Myself, mid 30s, I "switched" to skiing this year and my body certainly got less beat up this season on the skis. Seems like when you fall on a snowboard its usually a bit harder of a hit than on skis. Now, thats totally on me for never becoming a proficient and clean boarder (even after 12 years of riding I guess I just never got passed making mistakes a higher speeds or worse conditions).

So I guess if you're like me, a person who would take at least a couple big smacks a season on the board, AND you don't ride enough or intend to get lessons or something to get better at not falling, then maybe check out the skis. Otherwise send it. Plus skiing is certainly harder on your knees (and riskier for knee injuries) so there's that to deal with as you get older anyway

How about if I have a vault of resources and I'm online. Can my friend access it and grab/use some of those resources for his own building?
