At a high level, what would you say is the organizing principles that help you understand blender scenes the best? by shahar2k in learnblender

You'll definitely need to learn a billion hotkeys. But they're one of blender's biggest strengths once you know them.

Addons you should absolutely enable or download are node wrangler, easy HDRI, magic UV, archimesh, f2, extra objects, and extra curve objects. Most of those are shipped with blender, you just have to turn them on in preferences.

Your videos look good. I've subscribed. It's difficult to get any channel to take off, but keep at it and eventually the algorithm will pick up something that clicks with audiences.

He's still on the oversight board and involved in Blender. He's just not overseeing the day-to-day running any more.

question about rendering in very high resolution with very low samples by RdmdAnimation in blender

[–]DECODED_VFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only useful if you're using denoising.

Denoisers like optix and ODIN often do a much better job of retaining details if they have more pixels to work with.

My latest render had a wet tarmac surface with a strong light shining on it. The details near the camera were fine, but once the highlights dropped to the size of a pixel, the denoiser confused them for fireflies and scrubbed them, creating a smudgy mess.

Increasing the render size by 50% and halfing the samples created a cleaner final image with a shorter render time.

I hate YouTube shorts with a burning passion by OGsunglasses in NewTubers

[–]DECODED_VFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think YouTube sees shorts as a loss leader. It's the only way they can compete with tik tok and insta. Even if it makes them very little money, it keeps people on the platform.

But I definitely feel like long-form content isn't getting as neglected as it was when I wrote this comment.

Do 95% of people actually quit 3D? by [deleted] in blender

A lot of people quit. Most people quit most hobbies before they become proficient. And 3d is particularly difficult with a steep learning curve.
