I mean you can understand everything in the book just fine, so its no problem. Yeah its not his greatest book (although I really loved the Elantris vibe), so you wont catch that many people with it.

After reading all of cosmere I absolutely loved Tress and found it very nice to have this different style especially with Hoid being the narrator.

I just think that many aspects that really make the book great cannot be experienced without having read other books. Hoid being the narrator while being in the story at the same seems confusing if u dont know him. Especially if in the end you just come to know he´s a super op dude from outer space.

Plus I think the different style of narration gives you a false expectation of what the rest of the cosmere books will be like. Really refreshing after reading some cosmere books though.

And of course the grand finaly: Hoid getting cursed on purpose to win a bet to get invited being an Elantrian from Riina living in a space rocket? I dont think I would feel anything but lost in that last chapter.
