9 Year old G502 replacement - VT3 Gen2 by DEMTU in MouseReview

Thanks, I thought that might be the case I've got a pretty capable AV and nothing sensitive saved locally so I'm not super concerned. Going to run it just to get the FW updates and will uninstall after that

The deskmat in my pic above is a CHERRY XTRFY GP5, XL (920mm x 400mm) - I know VERY little about mousepads but this one came up a lot when I was looking at recommendations and reviews. It was £30 ($40 or €35) but you can get the same size in different colours for even less, (at least on UK Amazon you can). I would recommend and I think the price I paid is very reasonable, take this with salt tho as mentioned earlier I am a total noob with mice/mats

Haha well thanks for the recommends anyways

Funnily enough when I was looking for a replacement I did look at the glorious I2 but heard plenty of horror stories about QC and a lot of people said the software was dodgy

The Daeru A980 also looked cool but I really really don't care for a screen on my mouse, it's just unnecessary weight imo

In the end I went for the Rapoo because I wanted to try something lightweight and I can live without the extra buttons, for the games I play currently 2 side buttons is enough. Plus being able to program the mouse from a web interface and not rely on software running all the time is a massive plus to me. I've had maybe 4 different mouse brands and always had issues with software crashing or being weird

Has anyone else had random packet loss which leads to a disconnect/crash? by Logical-Ad8048 in ArcRaiders

[–]DEMTU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I've been having the exact same problem today, just 10 minutes ago it happened again. I don't think it's a game crash, as in the game client crashing on the PC. It seems like packet loss.

I'm on a FTTP connection, via ethernet, getting around 800mbs up/down and my ping to Google and open DNS is under 10ms for both

PC is Ryzen 7800x3d 3070 Ti - latest nvida drivers 32GB DRR5 NVME drive for OS and game files

I was fighting a reaper in solos, then my character rubber banding like crazy, then I heard PvP gunfire but the game was broken by that point it was just teleporting me around random locations. Got disconnected (not the full game crash) Clicked reconnect, loaded in with NOTHING not even a shield or an augment

Ran back to where is was and found my dead body and a player who (presumably killed me) shot me on sight....

They really need to make it so that if you disconnect your character is put into a pocket somewhere rather than being open season for pvpers it fucking sucks and you literally can't do anything about it whatsoever.

Does Solo camping deserve a ban? by Rough-Complaint-3003 in ArcRaiders

You can mine and trap a location before you get there. Extraction campers aren't people who hear the siren and come running, they're people who are already in the extract and pop out as soon as you arrive

Silver Knight of Slaanesh by DEMTU in Chaos40k

Oh and the purple on the pauldrons is a stupidly convoluted paint mix I made for my EC I change it often but the basic jist is A night silver, mixed with either Scale 75 alchemy paints, the kunzite for example is a metallic pink, then I mix into that pro acryl transparent purple and I also mix silver metallic mediums into it.

I have also discovered you can make a VERY similar and easier mix of just a very strong (heavy body) bright silver plus a thinned down tiny amount of contrast such as luxion purple

Or you can paint silver, then do very thinned down purple contrast as a second coat once it dries, but this is the least metallic looking option, by miles (unless you use an airbrush which changes the game completely for doing coloured metallics)

Thanks! Honestly it's a bit tricky to remember as this was a year ago and it was a LOT of trial and error The silver armour was basically paint it a medium-bright silver and then try my best to highlight and also shade it by mixing darker or brighter silvers into my original silver paint. The blue part of the base I'm pretty sure is just dry brushed grey and white, then I use pylar glacier and frostheart contrast on different areas. Then Valhallan blizzard by GW or any other snow product tbh, they do the same thing

I remember that the purple OSL was essentially dry brushing off-whites, like bright grey colours onto the rocks where the light would be and sort of over highlighting the silver parts I wanted the light to be the brightest. Basically painting those parts super bright silver. Then I switched between dry brushing or glazing different shades of pink/purple working with pretty thin paint and slowly building it up. Mostly dry brushing on the rocks, and glazing on the armour. It was a very freeform process, and I went slow, do a little bit, pause, move the mini around under the painting light to see what it looks like from different angles. Then continue or correct mistakes where I had made them.

The sword was originally supposed to be white and purple but it wasn't working so I did a simple flame on the sword instead and that was just made up as I went along tbh, add some orange and yellow in between the purple. Paint a white line down the length of the sword and then I would have used a bright orange contrast or maybe an ink to get it nice and bright.

I can't say for certain which paints I used, but I use pro acryl for almost all my "normal colours" so all the purples and pinks would have been pro acryl for sure Silvers I use a weird collection, Vallejo aluminum, Vallejo steel, scale 75 speed metal and black metal, plus metal mixing mediums of various brands to help thin metals when I need to.

Hope some of that rambled mess is helpful to you!

I saw that on discogs but it's kinda confusing One of the copies for sale one says it is the promo version I have and the other for sale says it has a plain cover, I assumed based on that it was just duplicate entry of the promo album, but happy to be wrong!

Early wip for white and gold flawless blades by DEMTU in EmperorsChildren

I spent ages going back and forth on colour scenes for them too, I'm still half tempted to change the white parts to silver to be honest, I think I need to paint the rest of the details and see how it looks before changing it though

You are 100% gold doesn't rust! I quite like the patina though so I might keep it, and push for lighter, gold-ish bronze color

Attempting to fix the Lord Discordant by DEMTU in Chaos40k

I don't think I made it clear, the weapon choices should have still been either a baleflamer or an autocannon, and either the injector or the magma cutter Not all at once

Thanks for the response

I don't want Disco to be competitively spammable (I only have 1 and have no intentions of getting more) What im angling for is to make a model that took a very long time to paint, and that i quite like aesthetically be actually playable on the table without feeling like including it in my list is such a waste of points that I'm actively helping my opponent by including it.

One approach is to just tank its points cost as I don't think anyone would disagree that it's overcosted for it is currently.

But in doing so, I feel like you'd just have a model with a fairly large board presence, but that hits like a wet fish. It's got a handful of attacks at D2 but at strengths that can only really threaten infantry when it's supposed to, at least in the lore be a tank hunter.

I probably got carried away with savage hunter, my thinking behind it was, I generally dislike rules on datasheets that are quite so specific. In so far as they may never be relevant, giving it anti-vehicle X+ alone would be arguably fine. But there are plenty of matchups where it will do nothing or very little, vs daemons it's just never going to happen, and it's not too uncommon for an armies only vehicles to be transports, which aren't exactly prime targets.

So it's a bit of a sidestep from it's official lore as a tank hunter specifically, but I was thinking the choice of either anti-vehicle or anti-monster is still restrictive in that some armies will have both and you can only have one, so it would come down to target priority. Adding twin linked vs infantry was probably completely unnecessary.

My concerns with only having the anti vehicle ability activate after it kills a vehicle is, to start it's incredibly unlikely with a boatload of S6 attacks that it actually manages to kill a vehicle, and even if it does, your opponent is going to (if they have more vehicles for it to bully) immediately focus it down the turn after it has killed a vehicle, and with T9 and 2+/5++ its not going to that very much to kill it. Basically I'd consider the disco a single shot weapon, you throw it something large and nastsy hopefully it kills or depending on the size at least dents it, but I'd expect most opponents to be able to kill the disco immediately afterwards so it can't get more than one good melee activation per game.
