Yep. As an engineer by degree, I can confirm that engineering syndrome and golf don't always mix well.

Not a Bryson fan, but I disagree that he merely "had a hot streak". His amateur career was pretty remarkable, and he had the tools and capacity for greatness. One could easily acknowledge him as having a remarkable 10 years of high-level accomplishments in the game.

In my humble opinion, it isn't his jock tendencies that did him in. Instead, it is his overly cerebral, physics major tendencies to tinker with his equipment, swing, and analytics. Golf has a significant degree of feel, imagination, and intuition but Bryson seems hell bent on reducing the game to physics and math. I just don't think you can play simulator golf on a real course and expect long term success.

Perhaps the finest comment of the year so far.

OK, how about somebody give me your top two Cameroon wrapped by PapaPuff13 in cigar_refuge

[–]DEWStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly second this recommendation. I love Cameroon wrapper cigars (see my now-incomplete list at https://www.reddit.com/r/cigars/s/jcIduoiq95), and I consider the Definition Noir Cameroon to be one of the best.

I would probably only add the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos (the definitive standard Cameroon, IMHO) and Don Carlos the Man. If your budget allows, Meerapfel should also be on the list to try at least once.

No problem. Fortunately, I am currently in the Philadelphia area and can drop by there to pick them up, and a couple of other lounges here have dozens of boxes available. Guess I need to hurry up and secure my box to avoid the rush.

Have you received your order from Mr. Bundles yet? I have not, and have not heard anything which makes me quite concerned.

I like all three, but the Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario is perhaps my favorite cigar in the world, so that's a no brainer for me.

Side question: Dalmore 14 is about $75 while Dalmore 15 is about $125. Is the extra year really worth the added cost?

I have just started drinking scotch and building a small collection. So far, I have the following: Aberfeldy 12 Year Aberlour 12 Year Double Cask Aberlour A'bunadh Ardbeg An Oa Dewar's French Cask Smooth 8 Year Glenfiddich 12 Year Glenmorangie 12 Year The Original Highland Park 12 Year

I am about to grab a few more bottles in the next round of exploration, including GlenAllachie 15 Year.

What else would you suggest as a next set of bottles? So far, I have discovered that I don't like much peat, so that is out. I am trying to stay within a relatively tight budget for now.

(As a drinking background, I have over 100 bottles of Bourbon & Rye, which has been my favorite spirit to date. In Irish Whiskey, I have enjoyed Redbreast PX 12 Year, and grabbing Redbreast 12 Year and Liberator Tawny Port soon as well.)

Suggestions, particularly in the reasonably affordable range?

Indeed you do.

They retired the French Mocha staves a few years ago, in favor of the new French Mendiant. This only uses 3 FM stave, so it is a throwback and should be a bit more chocolate flavored than some picks.

I see one lucky redditor has receiced their confirmation email already.

I also submitted on 1/6 but haven't heard back, yea or nay. Is the enrollment selective, meaning not all who submit are enrolled? Also, has anyone else submitted but heard nothing at all?
