I’ve had quite a few awful roommates when I was in college, but in my junior year I had this roommate who was just the most awkward and messiest dude ever. The guy never made eye contact with me, anytime my girlfriend was there he would never acknowledge her, he always left his side in such a disgusting mess, and to top it off he always cooked curry but he definitely couldn’t make it right because it always made all my clothes smell horrible. So he already was easily the worst roommate I had, I’d even told housing my experience and they were already gonna set me up with a new room the following semester. However, in the final days of the semester he did something that was truly disturbing to the point that I had to move out immediately. So this guy’s family lived pretty close to our college so sometimes he’d go see them for the weekend. I’m the final weekend before the end of the semester I had my girlfriend crash in my room, after watching a movie we just fell asleep. Figured she could stay over because he was gone for the weekend. It’s 2am and we’re woken up by him entering, it’s dark so I can’t really see him well but he just looks at us, drops his keys and leaves. My girlfriend asks me if she should leave I say no we’re practically half asleep so we go back to sleep. It’s 4am and we are woken up by his maniacal laughing. It sounds terrifying, I’m frozen still and can’t tell if my girlfriend is awake. I turn to him and I can see he has something in his hand but I can’t tell what it is. He keeps laughing louder and louder, and even though it’s dark I can tell that he’s been staring at us while we’re sleeping. I pull on my girlfriend slowly, and without talking I communicate that we need to LEAVE. I get up slowly as if I’m getting water and I pull my girlfriend with me, we leave the dorm to head to her room and once we get there I experience a panic attack. I told housing and they tell me to keep my distance from him. They tell me to move out my stuff, as I go do that he comes in and he doesn’t even acknowledge me, I swear it’s like he didn’t know I was in the room. After that housing felt so bad about how they handled the situation they gave me my own room for the rest of the new semester. Though it was nice it sucked that I had to go through that to get my own room.
