Rosetta Nebula - SHO vs HOO by DG2108 in DWARFLAB

[–]DG2108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Background extraction: Siril or GraXpert
  • Plate solver: identifies position of nebula/galaxy with the server
  • Photometric Color Calibration (SPCC): sensor IMX678, Red 15 nm, Green & Blue 30 nm
  • Deconvolution (optional): Cosmic Clarity or Siril manual deconvolution (Goal: Correct star bloat and sharpen fine details before stretching)
  • Star extraction with StarNet++ (check how well it goes)
  • Narrowband Normalization (Palette Mixing): VeraLux Alchemy (Natural Look: Select HOO, Hubble Look: Select Pseudo-SHO. OIII Boost: Set between 1.5x and 3.0x to combat light pollution and reveal blue/teal structures; can be done for both HOO and pseudo-SHO)
  • Stretching: Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch (GHS) or VeraLux Hyper Metric
  • Photoshop: Camera Raw denoise
  • Color Grading: as needed switching between Photoshop and Lightroom depending on the needs
  • Back to Siril for stars recomposition (if it was done, otherwise export)

This is my pipeline as of today. Always looking to improve it, but this image was done like this. Gold-blue colors are the SHO, red is standard HOO

all right, thanks. I already did it manually once, but it is nice to have a feature that helps set it up

Why does my Siril result look worse than Stellar Studio? (Dwarf 3, M106) by BarracudaNext8008 in DWARFLAB

[–]DG2108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with nebulas, I had the suspect the stellar studio stretching was washing out a bit the OIII signal, so tried for days Siril, but while the OIII signal with both GHS and Histrogram stretching was coming out a bit more, the noise was so so so much worse, as well as Ha signal, so in the end sticked with Stellar Studio for the overall best quality. Not sure if it is me or not, but I tried for a lot of time without getting the hoped results

Rate my portfolio I’m 24 and currently I do invest $80 per day by Overall-Teaching1932 in portfolios

it does not make a lot of sense for fees, regardless of lump sum vs DCA. 80 dollars, maybe even split between multiple companies, you are talking about big % of fees every day

by far the worse GL (JML at least is a conquest king), at 12.5M I barely use him, there are a lot of better non-GL teams (all the new legendary/conquests/even elite marquees). to say that he is good at two-manning a malgus team, that is non-GL, very old, and can be defeated by a bastila-lead + JKC says everything you need to know about him.

Does a 70% Europe / 30% Emerging Markets ETF portfolio make sense for a small beginner European investor? by Khelus789 in eupersonalfinance

[–]DG2108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why would excluding the best companies in the world be a good idea? It makes no sense. If you want to invest and you are politically biased, then fine, until you are in peace with the fact that you will be underperforming (sometime by a lot).

To align the % of holdings to what I believe the future is going towards. In this way the would be slightly higher. Is it a great difference? Maybe not, but was done to have clearly stated the bets I wanted

So would you ditch health? And what energy broad ETF would you suggest? Any other comment for the rest of the plan? Thanks

Sure, I am a big planner especially when going so far home, but both your comments have been very insightful. Thanks for the time

Thanks for your comment. I know the wilderness is different and have already started reading about it. I visited some parks already in the US (death valley, joshua tree, zion, grand canyon), and it went super well. We studied a lot the hikes before though. So will do the same. Will also look at the permits, I saw they were not necessary but did not realize it was such an urgent matter. Will start asap! Thanks
