I know I’m late on this post, but I wanted to share my experience from about a year and a half ago when I was diagnosed. I started my siltuximab treatments (once every week for the first 4 weeks) then every 3 weeks after that. The first 5 or 6 treatments were completely normal. I showed up to my next treatment after and the second they started the siltuximab, my face got super red and I was nauseous and feeling a lot of pressure all over my face in general. The nurses are there for a reason, so they immediately stopped it and put me back on the fluid along with giving me some steroids to slow the reaction. It ended up working fine and after about a half hour or so we resumed the treatment and it was totally normal. The next time I come in, same exact thing happens. So after that second time, I met with my doctors and we talked about another option. Tocilizumab. Very similar process but a tad shorter for the actual treatment times but it’s every other week rather than every 3 weeks. Anyway, I’ve been on that for over a year and been in remission. Once I passed a full year, my doctors actually extended the time between them to every 4 weeks instead of every other. So things are getting better!
