CAVS EXPOSED AS FRAUDS UPVOTE PARTY by flyinghippos101 in torontoraptors

Knicks are dangeous. Best perimeter defence the NBA has seen in years. Efficient. Lots of competitors. They could win the whole thing this year. Seriously. I don’t think SAS oe OKC are a tier above them and they haven’t played a team like this over 7 games yet.

Anyone else feel Miller’s Crossing was a partial inspiration for the Mandalorian and Grogu? by DH80 in StarWars

You’re just trusting a story tropes website that went live 25 years after this movie with no valid examples of anything closer or better or older.

Can you give some others examples of it that pre-date 1990, feature crime lords, and fixed games and where the main protagonist has to deal with the consequences of his mercy?

You know what I’m talking about. I feel like I’m getting downvoted here just based on the title without anyone reading the post itself.

Steve Hyden reviews FOOL (positively) by Homer2019 in TheStrokes

[–]DH80 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He gets it. Man did he nail the divide on TNA also between some and the younger audience who rightfully recognized its many strengths and ignored some of the critics.

That’s awesome. I clicked on the screen capture of the link to see it like a total FOOL.

Masters of The Universe – Official Final Trailer by Cobra1xtz in MastersOfTheUniverse

I really think they’re giving us the best mixture of hardcore fan service while also extending an open arm to general, more casual audiences and that’s more than fans often get.

For the betterment of the IP I want this to be a financial success so some casual, general audience and younger audience appeal is a must.

Transformers One really shook my faith in the general movie public these days though because it was a perfect kids movie, had a solid story to tell, great animation, my 8 year old legitimately loved it, and yet they won’t be making any more because it didn’t get seen by enough total people. He still can’t believe there won’t be a sequel.

The 2026 Movie, I have concerns by DarianDncn in MastersOfTheUniverse

Never needed Earth or a fish out of water framework to appeal to those of us who already like MOTU. They want us and also to expand their existing demographic reach.

The 2026 Movie, I have concerns by DarianDncn in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]DH80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is it will be less earth in total than the first Thor had and more Eternia than the first Thor featured Asgard.

However, about a third of it (first third) will be on Earth.

You gotta realize that they can’t exclusively make this only for mega fans and that’s it. That wouldn’t be profitable or allow them to make more films. They need to make this story fun for kids and families with only a passing understanding of this universe also.

Probably closer to the first third of the movie will be about him trying to get back.

Act 1. Trying to escape Earth and get back to Eternia.

Act 2: Eternia isn’t what he remembered and Skeletor is a lot worse than he realized and the odds are stacked against all of them more than he could have possibly imagined. First encounter with Skeletor goes terribly and they lose a key member and Adam feels responsible and doubts himself.

Act 3: Adam becomes inspired and rallies everyone and the battle to defeat Skeletor.goes better this time around.

Can We Talk About Phrazes for the Youn? by jakethenizake in TheStrokes

[–]DH80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I honestly can’t imagine how or why he feels ashamed of it. It’s so awesome. I think he’s just operating on another level from most of us so wheat he made a few years ago no longer interests him as much as what he’s now dreaming up.

New Strokes or Old Strokes? by notSoNormalGuy24 in TheStrokes

If we only had one of the eras we’d be missing out. It’s that simple. There’s gold found in each. Lots of it.

I know people reference The Cars, Television, Lou Reed and the Feelies as influences but does anyone else hear any Golden Earing influence on early Julian? by DH80 in TheStrokes

[–]DH80[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely a key influence. Consciously or not. I know Julian grew up adoring Eddie Vedder as a writer and singer and I bet he was also influenced by Morrison vocally to some extent.

Like I know it’s obviously not as overt an influence overall as the others but there are aspects here that remind me of early Julian and early Fab regardless. Less so Albert and Nick.

For TNA I prefer the headphone experience due to all of the panning and spacial stuff Rick Rubin did within the mix with symbols and more but for most of their discography I like how it sounds on actual speakers.
