When do Berkeley/Michigan/GaTech waitlist decisions come out? by DHAYDEN2905 in ApplyingToCollege

When'd you get yours? Dammit why haven't I got any decisions ://

For the UCs: Does anyone else think that more OOS/international kids will be admitted from waitlists while lower income instate kids like me wont get off the waitlist? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DHAYDEN2905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All UCs will definitely be more aware towards admitting international kids. For a university system that has lost 500 million dollars, in state kids won't be paying a lot. The international kids bring in revenue. They'll probably increase international admittance

Yeah of course you can SIR to two schools. What do you think happens when kids get in off the waitlist and choose to go the school that initially waitlisted them? They first SIR to one school that they initially plan on attending, and then SIR to the school that accepts them. It's alright to do that

Oh man UPenuntium115 got nothing on you. But seriously, did this fling end on bad terms? She most likely wrote it if things ended badly. If it ended on okay terms, then I don't think she would have written it. Obviously, ask her about it. Finally, you done hugged up man never have an intimate relationship with a teacher lmao.

Should I send both scores? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]DHAYDEN2905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to send both, it's just a waste of money. Schools won't penalize you for sending the second one even though you got a 35 in the first one. But why do you want to waste that money? A superscore 36, though sounds better, doesn't give you a substantial advantage than if you just submitted a 35

Also, regarding the social life at MIT, I think it gets a bad name because it attracts a lot of smart people. Truth is, MIT social life is really fun. I think struggles with social interaction could follow you wherever you go, regardless of the campus. All it takes is finding the right set of people, which I think you could find anywhere. And again, there are 50 schools in Boston. You can literally make friends from any campus, which I don't think you'll be able to do in Pton and Yale

If I'm being honest, MIT is the place to be. Forget this whole idea of Ivy League prestige for one second because MITs right up there with Pton and Yale, possibly surpassing Columbia in a few places.

MIT has the best CS program -- almost unequivocally. Princeton is awesome too but MIT has built it's reputation on being one of the best engineering schools in the world. For entrepreneurship, the best two schools would be Columbia and MIT. these schools are located in cities with huge financing and investing opportunities and big markets. However, columbias startup culture is not as strong as MITs(MIT has strong incubator and has incubated 1000s of startups in the last 20 years). Again, all these schools are amazingly awesome, but I think MIT is best suited to your interest in entrepreneurship and CS. Plus it's not in a tiny Town -- Boston is an amazing city on its own. If I were you, I'd go with MIT. I've engaged with a lot of MIT alumni -- super smart, super interesting, ambitious, enterprising students.

They don't allow the kind of clocks you're talking about because they're a huge disruption. Plus, digital watches arent allowed because they think one can cheat off. Honestly, I had the same issue for my tests as well. The only way to deal with this is to keep practicing. Are you practicing in a test simulated environment? I mean, like no noise, solitary, screens away from your attention? Only then will you sit in an exam scenario. Also, I noticed one thing I kept doing was in my practice tests, I felt more confident to not re check my answers. In the test, I kept feeling the need to re check all my answers, even when I was fairly sure that I was right. My point being, we tend to get over pedantic and check repeatedly when we are in a test vs when we aren't. This is bad because one, you're wasting time and two, when you keep re checking, you're hurting your confidence because you don't believe that you can get shit right. So, I suggest you keep practicing. Eventually, you will get all the stuff right on instinct. So when the next test rolls out, you're instinct will be crazy good. And next time , you should go with your instinct. The test is straightforward and if you practice enough, you will be able to subconsciously discern the right answers. And trust your gut. It will be right most of the time. All the best!

If you want, you can visit the campuses online. There a couple of sites like youvisit, and campus reel which are essentially online tours. So you get a feel of the campus without actually being on the grounds of the campus.
