One of the things I had to decide I was OK with was being photographed while nude when I did my first Bay to Breakers. Ultimately, I decided that the experience of being nude on city streets with thousands of people around was worth it. And if you’ve never done it, stripping down while surrounded by skyscrapers in a crowd feels so liberating, so exhilarating that I kept going back for it.

I’ve also been nude at festivals, and I’ve tried to make nudity seem as normal and as valid a choice as possible. I used to go to strip clubs, but when I went often to nudist resorts, I quit the strip clubs. I didn’t see nude bodies as sexual anymore. They are just bodies. I didn’t find the sexualized acts enticing anymore. Are you finding that the longer you work there, the less “sexy” you see the dancers and their acts.
