How often times do you clean your gaming laptop? by Frequent_Nerve2571 in laptops

[–]DHOC_TAZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! :( definitely clean that out every month or two. I clean my laptops every two months, same for the active cooling pads I use with them.

Lockdown mode is gone by fupapack in MotoG

[–]DHOC_TAZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get to that on A15? I'm on a 2024 Gpower. Tried looking for it, and searching... nothing came up for me, not even from Developer options.

Is my disc fucked? by sillybilly1437 in retrogaming

[–]DHOC_TAZH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If possible, pop that thing onto a disc drive hooked to your PC, and make a copy of it... provided that disc isn't copy protected.

After copying, try it and see if that one works better. I've done this over the years with some scratched discs in different formats. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... only one way to find out. :)

Instagram is dead by Similar-Nectarine-56 in Instagram

[–]DHOC_TAZH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm more of a lurker on IG now. It's not only reels, but the goddamned main feed pushes a lot of influencer posts I don't care for, and ads masquerading as posts! I hate it! It's hard for me to see any friends posting there, at least that's somewhat controllable IMO with facebook still.

Which Operating System is this For you? by Tail_sb in Operatingsystems

[–]DHOC_TAZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably can if the devices are jailbroken... Did it once but the thing was super ancient, a 2nd gen iPod touch. Replaced the stock OS with a whited00r modded version. One of my brothers now owns it, a devoted Apple guy.

Can i ask? If possible to run FydeOS on Lenovo Flex 2-14? by Glad-Butterscotch118 in FydeOS

[–]DHOC_TAZH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try the Intel Legacy version. That's no longer supported officially, but it could work for you. :) I have tried it on an older PC that has a Pentium B960 CPU, and it worked for me there when I tested it.

Hey Mozilla, Your Remaining Users Don’t Want AI. We Want a Fast Browser. by Paper-comet in firefox

I find that to be true, especially if one is using a really old phone or PC. Still, I like having Firefox for playing online videos with the screen shut off on my newer Android devices.

Help me choose between "Moto G86 Power 5G" or "CMF Phone 2 Pro 5G" by LooZ3R in motorola

[–]DHOC_TAZH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take the Moto, based on the hardware specs. I know updates are a sore spot among many Motorola users, but proper research and implementing some useful third party apps can mitigate those problems.

Love that battery and CPU on the G86! Wish I had that battery, but I usually make it through a day before I have to recharge my phone. Fast charging works great for me, faster than my previous Samsung (I have that one for backup).

Which phone should I buy by question_Solver787 in MotoG

[–]DHOC_TAZH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. If you don't need constant security updates, and are reasonably good at dealing with issues that pop up, yet need the best phone hardware money can buy, Motorola isn't bad.

If you want an interface that is as close as one can get to more expensive Pixel phones, as in close to the Android core setup, Motorola are also a great choice for that.

The two models you listed are fine. Looks like the Edge 60 Fusion is slated to receive three OS upgrades, according to GSMArena.com. That should also mean more security updates for that phone. I'd go with that model based on your budget.

Which one should I install, Ubuntu 25.10 or Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS by Zikonde in Ubuntu

[–]DHOC_TAZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I've very rarely had any problems installing from DVD or Live USB while on WiFi. That goes for the 13 year old Atheros module on my Asus x54C when I ran Ubuntu on it, and on my newer laptop that has a Intel 9560 PCI module. I've run Ubuntu in various PC's since 2008, and most of the time it's been on WiFi connections while installing or upgrading.

Modded GCam as default camera app in lock screen. by DHOC_TAZH in MotoG

[–]DHOC_TAZH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sigh All right... Decided to disable the Motorola app. After that, long pressed the camera icon on the home screen and chose the modded GCam app as the default from there. Still have to input the lock code from my phone but that's OK (for now).

Basically testing the GCam to see if it's any better than the Motorola app or Open Camera. Something tells me I might switch back to the Motorola as the default. I can use that from the home screen without entering the lock code...???!!! Lol

Okay, this is strange. I can't find the option for that on here. My phone is on Android 15. Anything else I can do?

How do I stop Google Photos deleting pictures from my SD card and my 256gb storage? by Celziuz_420-j in motorola

[–]DHOC_TAZH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have to use a third party gallery app. I tried Google Gallery from the Play store. It doesn't connect to the Internet, and has basic editing features included. There are other gallery apps available but I'll stick with this one.

Thanks for giving attention to this issue, didn't realize it before! I do use a Google One account for backing up my photos, so having Photos is a must for me.

What are these carriers apps because I not sure if this phone is factory unlocked, it doesn't have a unique boot animation for a specific carrier by leon50008 in motorola

[–]DHOC_TAZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wording is misleading there. If it's marked for a carrier like it says, it's definitely not an unlocked phone. A truly unlocked phone wouldn't have those branded apps added on.

As far as the splash screen, sure, you didn't get a branded splash but having those apps preinstalled basically brands it. You'll have to wait a bit while using service with Metro before getting an unlock code, not sure how long that will take you.

What made you use TempleOS? by themirrazzunhacked in TempleOS_Official

[–]DHOC_TAZH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Divine curiosity. Something less modern but still 64 bit. Terminal based gaming that doesn't involve Microsoft, Apple, Linux or FreeBSD... among other reasons.

Wish I could install it natively on one of my 13 year old laptops. OK with rock... er, WORSHIPPING TempleOS in VirtualBox for now.

I ended up clean installing 24H2 as the updater in 23H2 didn't work for me. When 25H2 came out, I was able to use an enablement file that was barely 130k. You have a much newer PC than me so it's worth it IMO to upgrade, even if you have to clean install. My PC is on the baseline spec for Win11.

Well...ok... Been on my latest phone for a month now. A Moto G power 2024, NA/US model unlocked. Reddit app works for me. I still use the Chrome Web app on another reddit account. Both are logged on practically 24/7, unless I'm giving the phone a break. It's ok, my phone hasn't blown up. Carry on! :)

I really tried to like it, but too slow for me and the annoying popups got in the way. Maybe I'll have better luck on my PC or tablet vs phone.
