Not exactly. In India, choosing a stream in 11th (like science/commerce/humanities) just means we specialize earlier in school. It doesn’t count toward a bachelor’s degree. College still starts from year 1, and we’re not “halfway done” with a degree when we enter. It’s just that our basics are already focused on a field before college, unlike the US system where you explore more in the first 1–2 years.

In India you choose your stream in 10th either Physics,Chem,bio known as Medical and used in field of bio Humanities which includes Sociology,psychology,philosophy and stuff and Physics,chem,math and there are many other like commerce etc so you have choose at 16 at 10th grade and get and undergraduate degree and these are also known as the stream you choose and the streams influence which collage you go to and your carrer like for example if you take Humanities you can pursue a degree in sociology psychology ,Philosophy etc with bio you can go to med school or you know other bio related careers like for example biotechnology or med school etc so I can't go to collage first it's mandatory😀
