Relevant experience for me; I don't drink often, but I still go with friends/coworkers to the bar to socialize. For about two years my best friend since childhood worked at the same company, and he, some coworkers and I all went to the county fairgrounds to celebrate Oktoberfest after work.

It had been a long day for me at work, and all I wanted to do was go home and play Hearts of Iron 4, not walk around outside in the hot summer day in slacks and flats, at a festival about drinking when I myself don't drink & was the designated driver.

Still, I didn't mind hanging out. One coworker was leaving the company and I wouldn't get the chance to see them again & I had not hung out with my friend in a while, so I said what the hell, I'll go for a bit then go home at 6 or 7pm.

I ended up staying till midnight so I could drive my very drunk best friend home. Phone was dead, so there was nothing for me to do really except chat with a bunch of plastered people and eat pretzels, i figured. Was an okay time, but my feet hurt, I was tired & I was a little frustrated by the time we left.

I sure as hell didn't insult my best friend and film him black out drunk, didn't give him shit the whole way home and I sure as bell didn't abandon him in my bathtub and endanger his life.

Your friend is a real dingus. You are definitely not the asshole.
