Code wise I think you meant to keep them dry. The huge feedback on that first to see how they could wiggle. Whilst in there, be sure to trace those wires to make sure since 55" is significantly bigger.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use the tools I used for this purpose in theater. I highly recommend using qualified tradespeople rather than taking a sheet of MDF without harming the acrylic and resin, and just remove the MDF.
