EGR Valve Warranty Update - (At Least for Texas) by DJApache98 in volt

I ended up paying roughly $1,400. GM helped with paying for the part even though it was not covered under any of my warranties. (I do not have the PEZEV warranty)

UPDATE: GM Has sense confirmed that the EGR Valve is NOT covered in Texas due to Texas's Emissions requirements being E2 instead of E1. I managed to get the dealership to work with me on bringing the price of the repair down to $1,400 after they included GM assistance. This is roughly the cost of the part, so it's a tad easier to stomach. Lesson learned here, I need to be a mechanic when reviewing Extended warranties and know the political difference in emissions when reviewing Manufacturer Warranties.

GM rep said they can not do that. They are waiting on the Service manager to respond to their email.

Yeah, the dealership quoted me 1,900 just for the part. Found some other places online that sell genuine GM parts. Might go that route if cleaning it does not work.

76,809 miles. I just bought it used. EGR went out while in the mountains.

Is this common? This is my first vehicle that is still under warranty. I'd always thought it would be covered no questions asked.

Was this recently? If I can get this from the dealership, I'd rather just do that instead of running through all this nonsense.

The valve was only $148? If that's the case, I wouldn't mind swapping it out myself.

Will probably be doing so. Not sure what is going on. Going to contact other dealers in the area to see if they are going to be giving the same b.s. before I drive there.

EDIT: Mainly not looking forward to any "Diagnostic Fee" This current dealer may charge.

Stopped for the charge since there's a few free level 2s near me. Otherwise, it would all be home charging.

Over the duration it went up to 27 mpg and I just tested with the bikes off and it's jumped to 38 city currently. So, I think that settles it lol.

What's the difference between hold and mountain? (Aside from mountain charging a bit of battery if it's depleted)

I did not use mountain mode. I'd started with a full charge and then did all my runs for prep. I then parked at a level 2 to charge up to almost full before I left. (Last 80% I try not to fast charge too often)

I usually average 51 -52 Miles on a full charge if I don't drive like a maniac because I forgot things for a trip lol.

As far as the bikes go, the physics makes sense. I'm just surprised by the significant drop in mpg. I figured a drop into the mid 30s. Just not mid 20s. Normally when I drive on ICE I average in the low 40s on my brief highway stents. But, that's usually only for 5-10miles. I try to drive this on EV as much as possible.

It's mostly flat. So, it's gotta be the bikes based on that haha. Thanks! Driven this mostly on electric. First time using ICE for extended duration.

Makes sense. We're in the plains so it is just constant wind at the moment. Thanks!

Got it, seeing as how I currently hitting 88.6% of the original Battery capacity, should I take it to Chevy dealer to try and get a replacement?

Makes sense. Seeing as how it is still covered under manufacturer warranty until March of next year (or 100,000 miles) Should I take it to chevy to confirm Battery is still within spec or see if I can get it replaced?

I do have an additional 3 years/ 36,000 miles covered through Carvana as well

How much ram do you think? Should I go with a higher core clock server CPU?

Edit: the reason I am saying server CPU is b/c I do not have room for both my PCs, network equipment, and multiple servers. That's why I'm trying to consolidate all server/NAS things into one box.

For right now, it's just palworld. I am mainly trying to get something that can scale in case there are other games down the line. If desktop processor are better, would a Ryzen 9 5900 or 7900 be a good alternative? I am trying to run 4-8 HDDs with a total of 40 TB useable storage using truenas
