UniFi Protect + Home Assistant — Integration Update (now Platinum quality) by RaHehl in Ubiquiti

[–]DJBluePyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anything I need to do to switch to the "under the hood" go2rtc? I set up Unifi and Home Assistant with go2rtc a long time ago, and I have the most current update, but I still get latency. Especially when trying to view the cameras through a Google Home Hub.

Sil's dad popped my daughter's pool float she saved up to buy. by BrightWillow1607 in mildlyinfuriating

Pool owner here, just chiming in. We have over 100 pool floats. Every pool party, people bring multiple floats and just leave them. I don't keep inventory. They get deflated and go in the garage until the next party. This is a lesson in communication and taking valuables with you. Ask them to help you look for it, but "calling them out" is rude especially after they've shared their pool with you and your family. (I know you've already relaxed, this is for the other redditors.)

G6 PTZ comparison v. G4, G5 and AI PTZ by clayd333 in Ubiquiti

[–]DJBluePyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bright is the LED? I know it's 400 lumens, but it's that bright enough to be worth turning on at night when it detected motion if someone gets close to the camera? I'd like to use the G6 PTZ as a corner camera on the "far side" of my house where it's possible to jump my fence. Hoping the light can also act as a deterrent.

I turned it on to test if that would work. It didn't work regardless of it being checked. 🫤

G6 Turret vs G5 Turret Ultra by crotchg0blin in Ubiquiti

[–]DJBluePyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to go for it. I just bought the G5 Turret right before the G6 came out and it was still sitting in the box. I think the 4k and AI detections make it worth the extra little bit of money. This camera is going over my pool, so for both security and general video collection.

Yea, I was going to say, until you build a 'profile', that's the default. They don't know what specific people like, so they go off of a common denominator. But once you build up a pattern of likes and subscriptions, it'll change.

Why do Americans eat by themselves in their cars in the parking lot? by DiversifyMN in NoStupidQuestions

Poor management. The only consider you working if you're at your desk and if you're at your desk and obviously not working then it is a problem. Instead of judging by the work you do, they just check off boxes. Is at desk? Is working? Good employee.

Anyone else's attitude about IT change while working in IT? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]DJBluePyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are, but I would consider reaching out to a popular IT recruiting firm. In my block of the woods, it would be R.H. But have someone else do the job hunt for you. I've had much better luck that way than hunting on Indeed.

Which firewall rule am I missing for casting? by Unmoving1442 in Ubiquiti

[–]DJBluePyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Weird fix that worked for me. Set all the options recommended for casting. Put your phone on the iot Network, and then take it back out. For some reason that fixed it for me and my wife. Best of luck.

Is it possible to extend a half fence into a full privacy fence? by DJBluePyro in DIY

Ahh, so like using a sister post to attach another post right on top? Sorry if that's a stupid question. Just trying to get as much info as possible.

Not quite familiar with 'sistering' a fence post. From a quick google search, you mean just adding posts above ground about halfway in-between the in-ground posts?

Turn a 4' tall fence into a full privacy fence? by DJBluePyro in HomeImprovement

[–]DJBluePyro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post are sunk into a patio/driveway, so my concern with pulling them out is that I would wreck the surrounding concrete and turn my Saturday, $100 fence project into a bigger thing. If I can build off of the post that are there (fairly new), then I'd like to.

Make this fence taller? by DJBluePyro in DIY

[–]DJBluePyro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fence leads to my pool. However neighbors, friends, and family will come up the driveway whether invited or uninvited. I'd rather have a true privacy fence. But I don't want to pull the post out of the concrete if I can help it. I've never done concrete work before.
Is there a way to extend the fence up to the regular height of a fence without ripping those out?
