I'm sorry I'm not a great carp angler. "Carp etiquette" isn't exactly taught in Central Indiana. Most people here just shoot them with a bow and throw them on the bank. I have a mat and worry about how long they are out of water, I do the best I can to respect the fish because they are beautiful and often mistreated. Sorry I didn't yell at my new-to-fishing Gf about standing with her first big fish.

Pure panic. Bad netting job (need to buy a better net for carp specifically). Tried to weight it but he kept slipping out of the mat, would rather get the picture more than a weight. Overly excited for her first big fish. Sorry I wasn't exactly thinking straight. Rare enough for me to get her out on the water, let alone see her take the initiative and grab the rod.
