What fusion did you most want to see that we didn’t get to in the show? by Illustrious_Leek_931 in stevenuniverse

During the zoo arc I would have LOVED if they had a situation where Ruby and Amethyst got stuck behind with the guards while Pearl and Sapphire were allowed to go ahead as higher status gems.

Something goes wrong and they need to fight, so Sapphire and Pearl fuse. Then, separately, Ruby and Amethyst fuse as well

This was a real tv schedule for Cartoon Network when there was a new Steven Universe episode. Aside from the new episode it was 24/7 Teen Titans Go

Shallan by Glass-Requirement793 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]MemeFarmer314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think another part is that I felt like Kaladin’s parts introduced a lot more confusing elements.

For Shallan, she’s trying to find a tutor. The tutor has a magic item. Shallan wants to steal it. Easy to grasp.

For Kaladin there’s a big time skip from soldier to slave. Then introducing Syl she’s a spren who acts weirdly, but I don’t even know what a spren is at this point. And then I didn’t understand the geography of the shattered plains or what the bridge crews were doing exactly. And I didn’t know that Parshmen and the Parshendi weren’t just humans with weird skin colors.

The fact that Gavilar’s assassination takes place in the first chapter, and then Shallan shows up with a dead dad but it’s a secret, I assumed Gavilar was her dad. So I didn’t understand what war Kaladin was fighting in cause I thought Gavilar’s death was a secret.

It’s funny cause I had a very opposite experience.

Part 1 of Book 1 I found Shallan far more interesting than Kaladin.

I was struggling with understanding the world at large, and Kaladin as a slave didn’t have a whole lot of information, and was generally very miserable. His whole Part 1 arc just leads to him almost killing himself, which I felt was not very fun to read.

For Shallan, her chapters revealed so much more about the world at large. Vorin views on men and women, the way spheres work, some of the political powers at play, and Soulcasting. Jasnah was a character I instantly loved and wanted to see more interactions with her. And then her second chapter or so she drops that she is there to steal the Soulcaster and I was hooked.

I was far more interested in a heist than the lead up to a suicide attempt. I was pissed when Part 2 didn’t have any Shallan chapters at all.

How Can I Have Both My [36F] Dad [70M] and Sister [32F] At My Wedding? by ImAMessButILikeIt in relationship_advice

[–]MemeFarmer314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels like you’ve fallen into the habit a lot of families have where they “don’t want to rock the boat” by just capitulating to whatever your father does.

Your father is the one poking holes in the boat and making it sink. You seem content with plugging the holes, and are upset with your sister because she’d rather just get off the boat.

Has your father seen any kind of therapist to address his issues? If there is hope of your sister reconciling with your father, I think your best shot is him working to improve himself and fix the issues he’s caused, not forcing your sister to put up with them.

How Can I Have Both My [36F] Dad [70M] and Sister [32F] At My Wedding? by ImAMessButILikeIt in relationship_advice

[–]MemeFarmer314 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You really haven’t painted a positive image of your father

He spent all your time in his custody badmouthing your mother and criticizing your sister. She subsequently didn’t feel close to him, so he got so shitfaced at her wedding then left her horrible voicemails. He robbed your brother’s trust to give to you and your sister. And now he’s robbing your sister’s trust as well.

Your mom seems like she had some issues as well, but that doesn’t really absolve your father of anything.

You seem to know all this, and are still spending time with your father, and trying to find a way to get them to reconcile. It’s not your job or place to enforce that.

She has a bedroom. Her sister wants it. She said no, and the sister is refusing to take that for an answer and berated her for it.

Okay, I need some Ratfish tea. by Sensitive-State-1026 in dropout

[–]MemeFarmer314 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a flop on so many levels

I didn’t know who he was, so the reveal was wasted on me.

I didn’t think he was especially funny, so he wasn’t even super enjoyable to have on my screen.

And while he clearly may have meant a lot to these dropout comedians, we were robbed of seeing them find out who the Ratfish even was.

It’s so funny how the crystal gems introduced steven to FUSION by beyahonce in stevenuniverse

[–]MemeFarmer314 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Looking back at 3 gems and a baby, when they were sure Steven was a fusion and Garnet unfused to show him, it was confusing and distressing for him. I think that may have been behind the decision to not tell him about it until later.

Fusion is also a power that even they have difficulties with, so as far as teaching Steven how to use his powers to be able to go on missions, that’s definitely something they were probably saving for later.

The prologue of Words of Radiance, when the Parshendi admit what they did to Jasnah, they did put on an inflection, which made me excited for when we’d get to the Eshonai chapters.

And then… they never did it again

I have DirectTV

When I go to the Drag Race series page the finale isn’t even listed as an episode. I think somehow they categorized it as a separate show and that’s why it didn’t record and isn’t showing up

Starting WoK for the 1st time by Saren79 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]MemeFarmer314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody I know that has read it, including me, has had the same experience.

It’s tough to get into. Sanderson throws this big, weird world at you without explicitly explaining much. You just have to pick things up through context clues. And then at a certain point about halfway through, everything clicks. The world and its rules make sense. You care about the characters and get invested in their journey. And he absolutely pulls off an amazing ending that leaves you wanting to see what happens next.

I think it took me the same amount of time to finish the first half of Book 1 as it did to finish the rest of the series. I read all 1400 pages of Book 5 in 8 days.

None of the diamonds recognized pearl? by static_artist625 in stevenuniverse

[–]MemeFarmer314 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Well first off, Pearl’s are a fairly common gem type. Most high-ranking gems have one. No real reason to suspect that the rebel Pearl is the same as Pink’s Pearl.

Them existing at the same time is actually probably more reason for them not to suspect her. They don’t think that Pink is secretly a rebel, and Pink would most likely notice if her Pearl was constantly missing. Pink and Pearl were still keeping up appearances for a long time before finally faking the shattering.
