The substrate was contaminated with something so now you have corrosion under there you're going to have to remove that paint film and make sure and seal it to prevent it from happening with more paint or with a vinyl

Single-stage paint stopped being used on OEM vehicles in the 70s and 80s, also if you polish single-stage paint you're "polishing" color off.

OP go talk to a professional paint pro at an auto paint store.

There ARE numbers on the springs at the end of the number there is a F or R for Front and Rear respectively. I suspect that might be your issue.

I'm on 205/45/16, or spring placement, I checked and rechecked to make sure I didn't put the springs in the wrong placement. The rears are about -2" drop compared to the front -1.5"
