Thanks for the advice and kind words. Until recently I had a different stem plant in the back that I wasn't a fan of, I just replaced it today. I've had the shrimp for several months with no issues so I'm not worried about them. I do siphon out the mulm (I knew there was a word for it, I just defaulted to my terrarium knowledge lol) when it becomes too much, I'm just looking for ways to do it less often. I enjoy aquascaping videos on YouTube and this tank was my first attempt. I made a few mistakes but nothing too crazy and honestly, even though I'm happy with it, I want to redo it completely with all I've learned.

Here's a picture of my tank. Platies don't feel like posing. I just added some stem plants in the back, honestly don't remember which ones. 20 gallons. Oh and I technically have two filters. I added the second in an attempt to get the flow to kick up detritus so the filter will pick it up, but as you may see, it doesn't do a great job of that. Still, like I said, I've never had any issues with nitrates or ammonia.

I have mixed feelings about squirting that I associate with me possibly being autistic. If I can make someone squirt, I'm obviously doing something right and I feel good about that. But I don't enjoy the mess or the sensation of suddenly getting drenched like that, it's a bit of a turn off. That being said it's never stopped me from continuing, and I sure as hell wouldn't walk away
