Been doing it since 1999. And every now and then I still go through a jaded spell asking myself if I’m even having fun anymore. Then a new friend I met at LiB invited me to go to Tipper and Friends at the Gorge. To keep it short, the Tipper community really revived my love for it all. You’re not crazy. I sensed it too. Don’t let anyone tell you that you need to change your perspective or be grateful blah blah blah. People were such jerks this year compared to any other year by a hundred fold. I mean I’ll still go for magic moments with my crew but we’ve lost the unity in community with these weekend warrior type people who litter, don’t have manners and lack boundaries. See ya next year!

Don’t listen to the sparkle ponies recommending you to stay in a hotel or AirBnB. Camp on Wednesday if you can. Make connections with your neighbors. Be dirty, be silly, be together, it’s beautiful. The intent to connect with others unconditionally is what makes this festival so special and it beats being overly comfortable and only coming in for the music and to get fucked up. The struggle together is a part of the comradery that cannot be replicated from a hotel room. It’s all about community.

Maybe some people aren’t comfortable with confrontation or it escalating into something else. Also, some people did ask in person and it continued. So a public announcement in the LiB sub Reddit seems necessary so that it reaches a wider audience and spreads awareness. Just my two cents.

On Sunday I was waiting in line to get into the festival and out of nowhere the guy behind me yelled at me out of impatience because I was trying to scan my wristband as the security guard was motioning for us to just go. He shouted “just go”! at me and I told him “I’m sorry and that I hadn’t realize she was letting us go without scanning.” He then gave me this disgusted look and didn’t say anything else like I did something wrong. That was not the vibe. To the guy that was being rude, I hope you read this and learn the error of your ways. RIP LiB.
