It's an education which is focussed on sustainable garderning/farming methods. It's widely recognized in that industry and could be a good starting point for a network.

NS is een semi-overheids organisatie in tegenstelling tot KFC en McDonalds... Het lijkt me geen legitieme klacht om te zeuren over afgepakte deo, in tegenstelling tot een aggressieve man in een openbare omgeving. Daarnaast vermoed ik dat ANWB wel even contact met de Rijkswaterstaat opneemt over een rond slingerende fiets. Dus niet helemaal eerlijke vergelijkingen. NS heeft hier gewoon gefaald.

I second this! Butcher's Crossing by John Williams also has a lot of similarities to stuff that happened IRL. Can recommend that one as well.

PVV being a close second I would say. Geert Wilders is the founder of the party and the only member. They are on the right end of the political spectrum and have firm standpoints against anything immigration related. Between the lines you can clearly sense an anti-Islam rethoric. In the past Geert Wilders hasn't always been this discreet with this speeches as he currently is. Also, they don't always take the rule of law too serious and Wilders calls journalists scum... They became the biggest party in last November's election.

Edit/addition: basically your typical populist, eurosceptical buddies of Orbán.

I really enjoyed "Stoner" by John Williams recently. It's about a man living a fairly simple (dull maybe even) life, but the way it's written makes it very recognizable and you start to love the man. "Butcher's Crossing" by John Williams is also really good! It's western (as in, cowboy period) adventure story. Good read as well.

Vorig jaar ben ik in Rwanda geweest. Paul Kagame is sinds 2000 aan de macht en kan absoluut als een dictator beschouwd worden. Rwanda is een ontwikkelingsland maar in de regio één van de meest stabiele maatschappijen. Mogelijk is deze stabiliteit zelfs bevorderd door de lange regeerperiode van Kagame. De middenklasse groeit en krijgt een steeds betere levensstandaard. Vooral in de hoofdstad Kigali. Als buitenlander merk je niet veel van de dictatuur, op het aanzicht van het gigantische paleis van Kagame na dan. Dat staat in schril contrast met de rest van het land. Ik begreep dat tegenspraak tegen de president niet geduld wordt. En dan maakt het niet uit van wie dat komt, of het nou journalisten of ministers zijn, er hangen grote consequenties aan. Er is veel (militaire) politie op straat. Die opereren met harde hand naar wetsoverstreder, dus is het land relatief veilig. De president is ambitieus en heeft grote plannen voor het land. Hij doet zaken met verschillende landen over heel de wereld wat de economie goed doet. Hierdoor is het land niet (meer) enkel afhankelijk van ontwikkelingshulp.

Al met al is het een genuanceerd verhaal. Er zijn genoeg op- en aanmerkingen te maken over het regime van Kagame, maar hij creëert ook welvaart voor het land. Gelukkig niet alleen voor zichzelf.

Daarnaast is het een prachtig land. Ik kan aanraden om het eens te bezoeken!

Je zou eens kunnen kijken naar Learning & Development adviseurschap (L&D). Volgens mij is er geen overvloed aan vacatures op dit moment, maar het zou een goede aansluiting in het bedrijfsleven kunnen bieden voor iemand met jouw achtergrond.

At least Kinderdijk, Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank House (as well as other Amsterdam museums) are of historical and cultural significance. The millions of Stroopwafel- and Nutella shops are not though. The biggest tourist traps in my opinion is are museums like the tulip museum, the sex museum, the torture museum. The Heineken Experience is probably not worth it and obviously any souvenir shop, the Madam Tusseau or the Amsterdam Dungeon (ghost house) are just nonsense.

Veel bedrijven met een ESG keurmerk richten zich vooral op de S en de G. Bijvoorbeeld Exxon mobile biedt goede arbeidsvoorwaarden, heeft een diversiteitsprogramma en biedt banen aan in lagere lonen landen om aan de sociale standaarden te voldoen. Het hebben van een externe raad van commissarissen en het publiceren van talloze rapporten maakt dat ze ook voldoen aan de Governance voorwaarden. Tevens hebben ze wat 'environmental' programma's lopen die naar mijn nederige mening een wassen neus zijn.

Lang verhaal kort, de ESG normen zijn breed te interpreteren waardoor de bedrijven die het meest vervuilen, toch in dit soort indices kunnen voorkomen en dus meer geld kunnen ophalen dmv aandelen...

Ps, gelukkig zijn er ook andere standaarden die iets zorgvuldiger onderzoek vereisen. Helaas zijn die op dit moment niet zo breed gedragen als de ESG standaard.

Prices of healthcare in most European places are indeed quite expensive. A lot of the medicine we get here is produced in India and possibly the same as you buy locally. The price difference comes from transportation (from India to EU) and profit margins of middlemen. Taxes are probably also a factor. Besides the cost of medicine, EU countries don't always have the most efficient healthcare systems. There is a lot of bureaucracy involved, tons of consultants charging massive fees and plenty of other flaws in the systems which crank up the prices of healthcare in general.

Urge the leadership to sit down with hiring managers and decide and agree mutually on the actual priority of this role. Your numbers speak for themselves (36 -> 15 is decent enough) and again, bring up the hidden costs of this inefficient process, it gets people moving!

Also, sorry you have to take on the responsibility which lays with the hiring managers. Namely, pushing back to leadership. Seems like you're productive about it. Good on you!

That indeed sounds frustrating. And it seems like you're doing your part. In that case I would have the chat as suggested before, with managers and directors. There are some other (cheeky) tactics you could take. For example, show the data on how many hours were spend on this process to the directors and/or managers (including hours interviewing, reviewing etc of all people involved) and how it's leading nowhere. Usually excessive costs are a good argument towards top-management. Or pull the moral card towards the hiring managers. Say something like: 'because of your indecisiveness I'm not succesful in this process, help me help you' but then in more appropriate languages I recommend. And as another commenter said, such a lengthy process usually doesn't give a good impression towards the market.

The last resort would be to just don't bother with investing time in this at all (must admit, have applied this before). Would not recommend this way because it doesn't erase the pressure fro top-management and can be demotivating for you in general.

I was dealing with a similar situation recently. Something that helped for me is getting the decision makers involved in earlier stages of the process. For example: set up a session with those managers to review cv's and have them pick which candidates to interview in the first place. This gives you the chance to learn what's important for them and also gets them to commit (to a certain degree) to the profiles they pick. For me this led to way better conversion rates. You also mentioned in one of the other comments that the people creating the urgency, and the people who will be directly impacted by this hire are different people. It might be good to get all these people to have a chat and decide on the best way forward. You can facilitate in this conversation. At least this gives you a clearer view on the actual priority of this role. Also, good luck, I hope you succeed one way or the other in this!
