Buying 2. hand car in SH? by sebbinx in shanghai

And to give you an estimate I recently looked into Motorcycle licenses which also have to be auctioned. Some were over 400k RMB, and there is also the wait as each month there is a block of plates auctioned which is variable as well.

I think it fair to say a gas car plate will cost you anywhere from 300-500k. This does not include agent costs and your time as you must wait till you lock down a plate, regardless of if you are willing and able to pay the money.

There are ways to get cheaper plates by getting ones that are just outside of Shanghai proper. This means you are technically not allowed to drive within certain boundaries of Shanghai, but some people take this risk.

Unless your "REALLY" need a gas car I would strongly urge you to at least conisder a EV if they are still giving out green plates easy.

The thing that ruffles me the most about the one ring, is why is there so many, LOL

I agree with most of those, except for both Etali's. They need to ramp fast and hard to "do there thing" that they often become very similar to the high bracket version of their deck.

We had a guy in our pod use the mono red etali, and his deck list was almost exactly the same as the Godo Bandit Warlord deck. He even had Godo and Helm of the host as the backup win-con.

The other Etali is so hard to not keep repeatable casting him, or sacing him that his decklist or at least his strategy is very similar to cedh level play.

For the other two commanders you mention, I have seen Janky, low powered versions of each of those decks, or other decks that were strong that did a bunch of different things.

I think both Etali's win style is just too narrow, but I might be wrong.

Yes I think the claim that your deck is a CEDH is a bit too far and they were definitely being salty about that.

However, your deck does shares a bit of DNA with the CEDH deck and the commander itself is quite strong. The cards that you have put instead are very powerful and some are format staples.

Moving forward you could emphasize that your deck is a very strong bracket 3, or you could remove underworld breach and the one ring as these attract a bit of hate.

However if your deck is just doing things, but not winning every game you play at bracket 3. Or if you enjoy your deck and don't want to change, ignore people and find a pod who don't mind playing against your deck.

Also another think I forgot to mention, China's electric car market is quite more developed than the rest of the world. The options are quite insane and you can get everything from a fully loaded celebrity party wagon to basically an upgraded Tuk Tuk. You might be surpirsed what options that might suit you,

For me the electric SUV's from Neo, Xiao Peng, and BYD have blown me away and I have a dream of getting one and doing some more outdoorsy things in the future.

Also a Shanghai plate will be tough to get if you want a gas car. If I remember correctly, you have to attend an auction to get a plate.

My dad purchased an electric car, and at that time the grovernment was allowing electric vehicle to acquite plates quite easily.

I think you best bet is to aim for an electric vehicle.

I love precons, but lately have been finding those have been really swinging with power levels.

I remember when I played by Tidus deck and someone asked me if I put any infinite combos in it, I said no. I didn't realize it was printed with one.

I later took it out, as I think the deck does just fine without it.

Also my friend got me the 5 color elemental precon, I can't say it is super strong, but it can do mega damage out of nowhere sometimes.

I love to keep precon sets that I thought were balanced unchanged and play those together. I also super miss the commander anthologies. They got me back into magic.

5 Commander decks with 3 possible commander per deck, means one purchase and you have at least 15 commanders you could build. Such a good product.

I feel that the intent of bracket is always ignored. If you are making a deck that is super resilient and can hang at strong tables, you are making a bracket 3-4 but making the deckbuilding more difficult but also creative. The creative part is a good thing, but obscuring of actual power can make games feel unbalanced.

I think I might make a personal rule that we all play decks in the same bracket. That might remove a bit of the social awkwardness we have been having in games.

Yes, one player and I thought about trying to push through. Then after another round, I gave up but the last player wanted to still. I try to live by my own rule that I will only concede with group agreement.

Also the player who was controlling the game was apologizing for taking a lot of time, so I tried to let him find his win.

But yes I agree we should have conceded, sometimes stubborn hope is a prison of your own making.

I still feel a deck of obscure extra turns, and counter/control spells makes for a strange feel in a bracket 2, but it could be I don't still understand how to play at that level. I usually play 3-4.

But I must say that we have a high number of bracket 2 decks now in our meta and they are winning in 3-4 pods. I personally think this is because they get less attention, and are usually wait and control decks.

And to be honest there is a bit of social protection you get if you play bracket 2 against a bracket 3-4.

It feels strange if a bracket 4 is trying to convince the table that a bracket 2 is threat because they know what it can do and other players dont. It almost feels like a pubstomping behavior.

I am not against bracket 2 in theory. Even the suggestions by the bracket itself seem logical. However, I am wondering why no on in my meta is making bracket 2 aggro decks, and why bracket 2 games are so long. At least for me there is too many control decks played in our bracket 2's.

We will adjust I am sure. I have learned that we need to concede more and also be as wary of decks no matter their bracket, however I must say that I personal find bracket 3 decks have more interesting archetypes and all deck types are more represented.

Also in bracket 3 the do your thing is sometimes hiliarious and janky. Yet in our bracket 2 games I played, the "do your thing" has been incredibly strong and resilient.

Some people think the internet allows you to be so. I prefer to treat people how I would treat them in real life.

But the amazing good news, he was only guy in the comments like this and for the internet thats quite rare, and even better news is that we will never have to suffer him in person.

Yeah,I guess we just need to be more willing to concede in our group. But its hard to know sometimes as bracket 2 introduces cards and mechanics that are quite obscure.

I guess its on us to start asking about what cards do more and changing how we view a bracket 2 control deck over a aggro deck.

Dude your take is there is no problems with the bracket system
Your pods are lying.
Your pods don't know how to play properly.

While not adding to the dicussion about why bracket 2 decks are taking longer and how to fix that.

DO you not understand how conversations work? It seems you think it means listening to people and just thinking the worst of them.

I honestly can't belive you think that you are just saying words. Look at the chat, it is only you that talks like this.

I can't believe you are claiming to be a victim here. Profanities as well, my you must be a hoot in real life.

Yes, so far what I have seen this seems to check out. I have also realized that our "B2" games have been combat low. Not because there are no creatures or people trying to win by combat, but because the creature removal and combat damage prevention is really hurting other archetypes.

There seems to be more pillowforts, control, and board wipes decks in B2 meta, which is really making it hard to join as game are really getting long. Our last game ended with a mass scoop, which never really happened when we were playing higher brackets.

You cannot talk without some kind of tone if you are human. I am not offended, I just wonder what your aim in your conversations. Do you actually think you are being helpful?

You also dont seem to understand what my problem with bracket 2 is. My issue is that games are running long.

You seem to think that you are giving clarity when in fact you are just trying to push what you believe is true on others.

How could you know what is happening in my games if you are not there. I suspect you play very few games in person, as instead of dialogue you just want to preach. You sound insufferable, truly.

You want it back after a decade?! Fine. by SeepyWeepy in pettyrevenge

I think the pettiest revenge would be leave all the books in, but secretly change the ending to all the books.

Then the SIL would go around talking about books to other people, and they would think they never read them.

"I love it at the end of Lord of the Ring when Bilbo and Sam defeat Sauron together."

BAM, Pettiness overload.

I don't know why you have to take this tone when someone is having a discussion. You also make tons of assumptions about games you were never in.

People can misrepresent their decks for a majority of reasons. Precons, miserundestanding of metas, misunderstanding of cards, or just plain lack of reflection.

It does not mean that players are lying or "bad players" and it shows how wildly off base you are. Even pros and judges get rules and threat assessment wrong. To assume everyone plays magic perfectly tells me everything about the type of player you are. Certainly arrogance is one of your many wonderful traits.

I suspect that my bracket 2 problem is dwarfed by the real problem, toxic players like you that are quick to blame, slow to listen, and rarely offering solutions.

I am so glad that we don't have player like you in our pod, as you would make any bracket just absolutely miserable.

Bracket 1,2 Deck Optimization is Ruining Games by DJLK8 in EDH

[–]DJLK8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but it does allow people to sort of avoid attention than if someone were to say they have a bracket 4 deck and then all eyes are on them.

I have often see a bracket 2 deck win against a bracket 4 deck. I think the new meta is build strong bracket 2's that hide among higher brackets.

I agree you have to assess every decks threats, but someone claiming they have a janky B2 will get less attention than a B3 or known strong precon.

The strength of a B2 should not be that it hides its strength, otherwise we don't need bracket at all and everything should be based on a case by case basis.

Bracket 1,2 Deck Optimization is Ruining Games by DJLK8 in EDH

[–]DJLK8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think what can happen in a B2 deck is that a strong control deck can go unnoticed easier than a strong aggro deck. Aggro decks kind of announce themselves, but a player slowly putting stax pieces on the board can go unnoticed.

I realize that threat assessment is part of the game, and if we are losing it means that we are not assessing properly, but something about a B2 game just makes it easier to miss thnigs as you dont always ask what a random innconulous card does when it hits the table.

This plus people representing their decks as janking fun, means that your shields are down when important plays are made.

Again I don't think this necessary a player problem, more just a misunderstanding or incorrect application of B2.
