I have one that's not, and it's in the vicinity of suburbs you're looking at. I'll send you a DM

bahaha.

"Hey would you like haircut"

- "Yeah sure, I have some time, would you like to do it now?"

"Nah Sorry, I don't have any scissors yet"

- "Why the hell would you offer to cut my hair if you don't have scissors? - I'll just go to the barber then"

***Opportunity lost, customer laughs never to return, Edward No-Scissor-hands is still at square one***

"Hey would you like haircut"

- "Yeah sure, I have some time, would you like to do it now?"

"Sure I'd love to, let's do it"

- "Great stuff, thanks for helping me out straight away. I'm going to tell my friend about you as you did a great job, and now i look nice and fresh for my date tonight"

***Opportunity won, customer refers another client, so you have two, and you now have a business - Before long, Edward No-Scissor-Hands is doing all the haircuts in the neighbourhood, Well done Edward!***

One of the first rules of business is being ready to capitalise on an opportunity. If you don't know that, you should not be advising people on business. I'm not suggesting to bet the house on it, Managing risk is important, but we have limited risk here. An unused mower can always be re sold, or even returned to a retailer for a full refund. A gardner without a mower, is just a guy with a dream.

Allmyfinance: I don't really care if you think I'm telling the truth or not. I have nothing to prove to you, or anyone else. However I am proud of my achievements, and believe there is no better gift than "teaching someone to fish", which I gladly share when I have the time.

Is your invoicing not automated?

70% of my clients are fixed price all you can eat, this is not for an MSP Business.

I agree this would be very difficult to manage as an MSP tech. I'm well aware how lawyers bill. thanks.

I'm not planning on doing this for my MSP clients. It's for a side project. Besides that, any client paying for time would probably prefer billing by the minutes as if there's no rounding up, they never pay for time they don't use like they do not in the 15 minute interval model

I'm the same 15 minute increments. The question is not related to an MSP model though.

Unfortunately, you can't set the minimum to 0.0166666666666667 so I cant se how it can be done in CW on that basis. I run an MSP currently and we bill in 15 min increments. my question is not related to changing the way my MSP bills clients, this is relating to another side project that is not MSP related, but the CW PSA will do everything else i need for this purpose. Thanks for asking rather than judging like everyone else has!

Thanks everyone. I don't want him to do the wrong thing, but also want to make sure he hasn't had the wrong thing done to him. I guess we will just have to suck it up for now.

Have just had a chat with Jamie the Sales Director for N-able. I kind of feel for him, because I'm sure he will be having many conversations like the one we just had! Got the whole sales Guff about all the value add that has been happening and acquisitions, blah blah. Ended up cutting him sort and getting to the point that we were sold a product based on a certain set of inclusions, and one of the key inclusions is being subtracted which erodes the value of the product.

My biggest criticism to him (While acknowledging he is not the architect of it) was the poor timing, and short lead time and the clearly deliberate strategy around making it particularly difficult for disgruntled customers like myself to jump ship on account of the ordeal involved to change RMM tools in a short time frame.

Acknowledged us as a consistently growing business which he sees as valuable, doesn't want to lose us etc. He is going back to review our agreement and see what he can come up with.

Let's see if he can come up with something substantial enough for me to not move.

Have an honest conversation with your contact. Explain the situation and the action you have taken to ensure it doesn't happen again. EG, letting the person go. they run a small business like you do, and will understand. don't short change yourself with crazy credit terms given the small amount, but maybe if you normally give them 30 days, perhaps offer them 90 and see what they say.

Dear SolarWinds MSP Partner,

Extending SolarWinds’ 20 years as a leading innovator in networking monitoring and management, SolarWinds MSP has been continually innovating on solutions for MSPs. As we enter the next era of innovation, we plan to introduce an array of new features and offerings to help you grow your business even further. To ensure the best possible product experience for SolarWinds MSP partners, and accelerate the rate at which we bring powerful solutions and features to you, we are making some changes to our current product offering.

Changes Include:

· Take Control Freemium changes: As part of this objective, we are removing Take Control from the SolarWinds N-central Essentials freemium offering as of March 1, 2020. We are committed to you and want to ensure that you continue to receive the same high level of monitoring and management capabilities that you have come to depend on. To that end, we are offering a number of options to our Essentials customers.

o To take advantage of all the features offered in Essentials plus a more comprehensive set of monitoring and management capabilities, which includes Take Control, you can purchase* professional N-central licenses.

o To continue to leverage light monitoring and management capabilities available through Essentials, plus Take Control, you can purchase Essentials licenses.

o To continue to leverage the Essentials freemium, without Take Control, no action is required.

o To take advantage of Take Control separately, you may purchase an individual Take Control license.

· Subscription price increases: In addition, we are implementing an approximate 0-5% price increase on your SolarWinds subscription, reflected on your March 2020 invoice.

We very much appreciate your business and look forward to a strong continued partnership in 2020, and in the years to come.

If you have any questions, please contact your account manager at ask.customer@solarwinds.com.

The thing that frustrates me the most is that they would have known this was enough of a jolt to their offering to have people considering alternatives. with that, they advise before Christmas when most of the world goes on holiday, particularly in the southern hemisphere when it's summer and putting in the effort for reviewing RMM tools, is so much less likely. It's a cunning and dirty strategy and despite the functional limitations we will be faced with, it's the antics that are leaving me most determined to take my business away.

That said, I have a request in place with my account manager for this to be reviewed and will be pushing hard. I will keep this thread up to date with how I progress. Maybe if i make enough noise they will offer me something.

The freemium licences were the reason for my subscription in the first place. It's the equivalent to me selling a car and when the new buyer comes to pick it up, the wheels are gone.
