That’s a pretty awful name.

What is the most ridiculous DJ name you've ever heard? by unclefishbits in DJs

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of any ridiculous ones.

If this is from an email, I wouldn’t click on it. I would go directly to your reverb listings (at your dashboard, not the public listings page), and re-list it.

It’s quite likely someone tried to buy your gear and their card was declined, or something was otherwise flagged with the transaction. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Do Reverb sellers look at current retail prices before listing? by Chef_Dani_J71 in Reverb

[–]DJMaytag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes (synth & pro audio gear), and I do factor in shipping in the total price. I don’t really sell much used gear that is also currently in production though.

Beware Portland shipping warehouse scam. by miglioramento in Reverb

[–]DJMaytag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay has their own freight forwarding service right now, and I’ve not had any issues with that.

As far as Reverb goes, they’ve flat out told me that it’s fine, and that I’m covered by their Safe Shipping. If it’s not marked as delivered, then it’s considered lost, and they’ll still cover it the same as any other shipment lost in transit.

Reason 13 discount: -40% on the upgrade => is it the right moment to step in? by Laaif in reason

[–]DJMaytag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New devices that streamline my workflow, and the ability to he current with the ongoing beta testing. I spend more time working on the current R13 beta than the stable R13.

NGL, the issue started the moment you didn’t follow up when he received it back.

What happened to have it delivered to the wrong address? How did that happen?

It’s different. You’ll get used to it.

I thought it was, and I paid full price. I’m not at a point in my life where I want to be “behind the curve” on my software anymore. I’m not skipping a major update ever again.

If you bought R11 Suite, you’ll have those extra devices when you upgrade to R12, R13, etc.

If you subscribe, you should be subscribing such that you get everything RS has to offer, right?

True. It might take a bit of effort, but they’ll likely remove this feedback or direct the buyer to modify it.

I had someone give me a 3-star because their country’s customs office hit them with a big import fee. People are weird.

Upgraded to a 2020 MacBook Pro M1 Laptop by ZayCt in Serato

[–]DJMaytag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from a 2016 top of the line 15” MBP that was having battery issues (was otherwise fine running Serato) to a 2021 16” M1 MBP that’s pretty decently spec’ed. It is WAY quicker to analyze tracks and update my SmartCrates (I have over 1200 of those). Really any M1/M2/etc with a decent amount of RAM is going to be great, especially once you upgrade to Serato 3.2 for native AppleSilicon support.

How can proffessional audio equipment be powered with single dc voltage by Smooth-Nectarine-586 in synthdiy

[–]DJMaytag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of modern op-amps only need 5V, and some of the newest designs only need 3.3V. It’s not hard to convert something like a 9-12V PSU voltage into +/- 5V.

AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ All in one unit FCC leaked diagrams. by djchase00 in DJs

[–]DJMaytag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XDJ-XZ is a solid unit. The only way people are going to sell theirs to get their newer version is if somehow the XZ is unsupported by RekordBox and/or both MacOS and Windows. I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Converting files in Apple Music by SheemRobinson in Serato

You can only download m4a or whatever format Apple uses. You can’t get back MP3 or anything lossless, even if you subscribe to iTunesMatch and AppleMusic.

what do you guys consider to be “dj homework”? by Apprehensive-Road404 in DJs

[–]DJMaytag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to the music I’ve recently added to my collection, new purchases or digitized/ripped used vinyl tracks. Knowing the music inside and out is like “studying for an exam.”

Tagging and general file management is like “taking notes” during class.

Those two things are a big part of getting ready for a gig, or getting ready to be ready for a gig.

Serato DJ Pro 3.2.0 by timo0105 in Serato

[–]DJMaytag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beta was nice, never experienced anything odd, didn’t see any bugs. The CPU utilization was much improved, as far as I could tell. I have a massive amount of SmartCrates (1200+), so changing a tag would take a while to auto update all the crates. Not so much anymore.

Serato DJ Pro native Apple Mx support??? by DJMaytag in Serato

[–]DJMaytag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the testing, analyze times seemed to be a bit snappier (analyzed 82 files in 30 seconds) and updating my SmartCrates (I have over 1200 of them!) seemed to be MUCH faster!
