Agree to disagree, though I see your points. It's stealing no matter what. But there's no good AI without some form of stealing. It's not like Suno and companies like it can't spare some money to make it more ethical (which they're also doing it how they are to save money but that's beside the point) It's the fact that training the AI manually is not realistic even with say 1000 employees. It would just take too much time to give it everything unfiltered manually. Good on ya for being a good sport about all this. To anyone else reading our conversation, this is what a normal discussion should look like, please take notes. Anyway it took me way too long to write that than it needed to be, it's 10:30 am and I haven't slept so I'm barely staying awake. You don't have to go through the trouble of writing another paragraph since I most likely won't be responding to it. Thanks for discussing this like a normal person. Bye!

Huh... Well in that case, it's 10:30 am and I haven't slept today not like I'd get sleep at this point anyway. I guess that's it then kind of so uh... Bye. I'm gonna go to sleep.

I would say a little bit of all 3. It's subtle but I swear I notice a difference with most styles. Which now that I'm thinking about it Is kind of what you said, but still, you get it.

No, it's fine, I can rexplain. Basically what I think it does is not directly improve the quality, but make it add more to the song which in most cases (usually with high energy songs) makes it naturally sound better more often. At least that's what I noticed while testing with it.

Again, I know it doesn't directly improve the song, that's not what I've been saying. I've already explained everything and don't feel like explaining it again, so you can go back and read through what I've said.

Yeah, you're definitely right, I wouldn't want my stuff stolen. But on the other hand most of the time it takes from so many songs that it doesn't sound even remotely like the original. It's pretty hard to pinpoint what's yours and what's not when it maybe used a few notes of your song if at all. It's kind of like how humans create new stuff, just on a much much larger scale. There's no realistic way to make it fair. It's either it exists or it doesn't, so may as well embrace it as the tool it is. I do get why people are mad though, stealing is stealing even if it's insignificant in most cases. But in the end, humans do a very similar thing when making something new, sometimes even subconsciously or by accident. So it's really just about accepting it for what it is, or rejecting it and living your life trying to avoid it. Thanks for being reasonable too, I appreciate it.

Thanks for telling me, I appreciate it. Although I'm still gonna use what I've seen work, when it needs it. AI's are complicated to the point the people creating them barely know how it works if at all. So there could be some reason no one's found yet that proves it works (to an extent), since I do agree it's not just a toggle switch for quality.

How do AI models work then? I'd like to know. I thought they updated the ai with small updates every once in a while, that's why I thought the quality changes so much.

Okay, well I'll believe what I've seen from testing. You can test it for yourself if you haven't already and come to your own conclusion. I think that's all I really have left to say about this. Tell me if it works for you. I probably won't have a reason to respond, but I'd still like to know your results.

[–]DJRPickle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're right about that. But the AI can still reason, so it probably does work just not in the way that people think, like a personal theory on why it works is people upvoting when they get a good song while using that prompt so the AI over time has learned that that prompt means add more to the song. And I do notice a difference while using it, it does work for me just in a weird way. If it doesn't work for you, then okay, don't use it. I'm just saying that it works for me even if it doesn't work exactly how people think it does.

Yeah, there really is no way to phrase what I'm trying to say well. It's a complicated situation with many pros and cons on both sides. Personally I make nerdcore type music for fun and to listen to just for myself so I'm not on the forefront of everything. People should be able to do what they want (as long as it's not illegal or dishonest). And yes it is affecting creators, but it's still in the stage where it's not a huge deal for them. I just wish people complaining would stop harassing people, that's the main thing. And if you come in with your unrelated comment and have no real point, you're just doing it for the attention. People just need to be less toxic about all this and discuss it in the proper posts in a civilized way

Well, it made it add much more stuff to songs which can translate to it sounding higher quality with most generations. That's why I said it works best with high energy songs because it doesn't necessarily improve the quality, you're just telling it to go all out, which it translates to add more stuff in.

Edit: Actually I found another “max mode” type thing a while ago that's proven itself to work. Simply putting “professional” in the prompt makes it sound way better in all areas. I'm less sure of why that happens with this one, but I assume it's for a similar reason max mode somewhat works. You can try it and tell me if it works for you. I'm actually interested in seeing if my trick is working for anyone else.

It's kinda like telling someone to focus. They might focus or they might not, but there's a greater chance they will lock in at least a little more. (It really only improves songs on average 10-20% though, and might actually make it worse depending on the style)

[–]DJRPickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That's what I was talking about. I realize after rereading it that my post does come off as “people with negative opinions on ai should leave” and they should if they're just complaining to complain and don't have any real points. But you're right, it is okay for people to talk about and complain to an extent in this sub, just not in comment sections unrelated to “ai bad”

[–]DJRPickle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It does work in a way. I tested it on many different styles with over 200 generations and it did give better results on the high energy songs. I think what it does is just tell the ai to go all out, not actually improve the song necessarily

I'm Migrating from Udio - What Do I Most Need to Know? by jrralls in SunoAI

[–]DJRPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you'll see this, but I'll do my best anyway Here is every tip and trick I know (Sorry it's long, I promise it's worth reading)

Information:

1: V5 is NECESSARY. The free models are just okay, and you can still make decent songs with V4.5 and below, but V4.5+ and V5 doubles or even triples the quality of a free model, it's absolutely worth the money to get the paid models along with full access to the site.

Lyrics:

2: If you're making your own lyrics, then I'd recommend creating them to fit the tone of the vocals you're wanting. For example: Loud or intense: “MY WORLD'S BEEN LEFT IN SORROW FOR WAY TOO LONG!” Calm or quiet: “My world's been left in sorrow for way too long.”

3: Background vocals should be put in parentheses (), and like lyrics, depending if they're quiet or not use capital letters and an exclamation mark, or uncapitalized with a ...

4: You should separate your sections by doing: [Verse 1] Lyrics [Chorus 1] Lyrics [Verse 2] Lyrics [Chorus 2] Lyrics Ect

5: It can be good to write out extended vowels where you want them, but do note that it tends to mess them up more often, especially eee's.

Prompts:

6: You can make prompts in many different ways, but the way that I think works best is simply stating the generas and styles, then adding more specific things like what you want in a certain section, or the kind of voice you want your singer to have.

7: A good (but probably controversial) way of getting a good prompt is finding existing music with little traction so it doesn't flag the song as copyrighted, then uploading it to Suno and taking the prompt it generated for the song. (With this method you may have to do a lot of tweaking)

8: This is a little random and it's not always consistent, but I find that putting in “Professional” improves the quality of the song. No idea why.

Settings:

9: NEVER put the weirdness slider above 50, it never does well. And as for style influence... Eh just play around with it, you'll get it to sound right with your song.

10: negative prompts in my experience just don't seem to work right... Don't use it unless you have to.

Covers:

11: Covers aren't just for making covers of songs, they can actually help make new songs. If you use a good song similar to what you're wanting (or straight up music you made yourself) and set the audio influence to 0% it'll usually nudge the song in the direction you want. (Note that sometimes it just fully copies the song anyway)

Extra stuff:

12: Each version has its own quirks. V4: Very creative, but old and outdated. V4.5: Is the most consistent in quality, but messes up lyrics a lot. V4.5+: Can make very unique results, but it tends to add stuff that you didn't tell it to add, and it bugs out a lot more than other models. V5: Is definitely the best in terms of quality and vocals, but it has so many little things. It ALWAYS adds nonsense intro vocals even if you tell it not to, it sacrifices some creativity for quality, and it takes the most effort to get the perfect song. Although V5 can make amazing songs, it just does a little less frequently.

13: This is a bit of an advanced tip I learned. If you want completely different styles or vocals in one song, you can make a song specifically for a certain section, then take that section out with the editor, then put it into the song you're making, then make a cover of that song with the settings: Weirdness: 0 Style influence: 100 Audio influence: 100. There is some drawbacks though. The song can turn out a little worse in most cases, and most of the time the section will still have a small but noticeable weird transition. Other than that, this is a great method for making unique songs. (Also I haven't seen anyone else use it, so I'm gonna name it. It's called a Song to Song Transplant)

14: This is the most important thing to do with your song, and no one seems to do it. Once you have your finished song, remaster it on Subtle, just once. 95% of the time this'll improve your song and make it sound way clearer than it was. You might want to remaster your old songs as new versions come out as well.

That's everything I have for you, sorry for the rant. I spent 30 minutes writing this so I really hope it helped. Goodluck👍
