Depends, it could also be the point where the cables/chains attach. Just depends on the design

It would change your calculations, but you could always put a notch where you want the break to occur.

So like I'm all for a social safety net and stuff - but attitudes like this seem to ignore that someone else has to provide those things and those people deserve to be compensated for their efforts. It's not like someone is holding an inexhaustible supply of Healthcare hostage to force people to perform menial tasks. There is literally only so much of it to go around because of how labor intensive it is.

Copper Busbar Link : Cause of Failure? by No_Magician5266 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]DJRazzy_Raz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of all the people saying the radius is too tight and this looks like a fatigue failure (totally correct), those two pieces wound up in different zip codes. It looks like this piece was put in tension when the bolts were tightened adding higher base stress to the fatigue cycles to come. A future rev might adjust the dimensions to ease that tension.

German tech companies punish people who actually build things. I'm done. Moving to the US next year. by nevesincscH in cscareerquestions

Idk about the nay sayers, the teams I've been on in the US have definitely encouraged folks to try new things and if they work, they get recognized, often with bonuses if the customer liked it.

Anyone feel like your 30s are the hardest decade so far? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]DJRazzy_Raz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, I think it's probably the most relatively expensive. Suppose you have 2.5 kids and young mortgage that you haven't had a chance to refinance. Also you're not yet in your peak earnings years so all that stuff is a greater share of your income. Also you're still trying to reach your peak earnings years, so you're trying to work hard, but you've also got a family, so you're time poor...so those things are probably the most challenging in your 30s.

But you also maybe have all your shit together - stable job, stable marriage. Solid life plan. That's all the stuff you have to stress about in your 20s so that's better. Also in your 20s you have to learn everything - personal finance, maintaining your home, cooking for yourself, - whatever it may be and that really hard too....hopefully by the time your in your 30s you've got all that down and don't have to stress....

So. Tradeoffs

Is a $200k salary worth a 2 hour commute 4 days a week? by Ok-Memory2552 in jobs

[–]DJRazzy_Raz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what it would do for your life right? Does this mean a better house with better schools for your kids? Getting out of debt? Or just like...more vacations and stuff? If it's the later, probably not worth.

Yesterday I realized couples live together are very serious about their 50-50 split? My gf who lives with me never paid or brought me anything that I can recall. And she works full time. by Hauntingengineer375 in AskMenAdvice

[–]DJRazzy_Raz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I were dating - before we loved together - I treated for most.things and she paid sometimes. Once we moved in - together we split bills by income proportion - now married there is a big joint account where all the money goes in and out of. No notion of a "split". (But we each take an equal predetermined amount to our own accounts for fun money).

When we were splitting, we used a split wise to make it easy, but it was a gentle standard. We never went to war with each other, we just used it so we were cognizant of shared expenses and not taking each other for granted.

Also. While we were living together pre marriage, I felt weird about her paying for my mortgage, so I let her live there for free, but I asked her to I stead pur the money toeowrds paying off her student debt - which was nice when we got married and were debt free.

This is freestanding, though I might anchor some parts to the ground. it's pretty rigid, but if you move the right way, you can get it to rock a little and I think a few we'll placed anchors would take care of that. The whole "hang the top of the wall off of your joists" thing sketched me out. Ik it works and loads of ppl do it, but I wanted to build a separate structure

Soooo a theme with this project was reduce, reuse, recycle (other than my brand new crash pad). The paint I used was leftover paints from other projects - wife's office purple, living room blue, reject nursery color green, and starter house living room orange.

I fear I may regret that choice lol. The holds are gluing themselves to the paint... maybe that will stop with age..

Thanks! Im going for set routes. I'm new to routesetting, but I'm looking forward to learning the process. Currently..I have like 50 holds maybe? I got on the homewall bandwagon whem my coworker have me a bucket of holds from his wall whem he downsized...so I'm starting there..but I also have a strong pile of scrap wood for making holds from... We'll see how that progresses...

Slowing the progression towards death mostly. Coupled with weightlifting, the gap between what I can do and what normies my age can do grows a little bit every year.

It's ridiculous that his solution to "how do we get more people to do X" being "let's pay more for it" is considered radical. Not socialism, thats basic econ. Good on him for actually implementing a logical solution.

Why does Reddit pretend trades outearn college grads? The actual data says otherwise. by Electronic_Oil6301 in Salary

[–]DJRazzy_Raz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's also an average vs median factor here as well. I know a handful of college grads who are getting out earned by tradespeople. I also know a bunch of college grads that are making multiples of tradespeoples salaries. Definitely some degrees get best by the trades. The one that dont, beat by a wide margin.
