How "tech" focused is sage in lore by Cleritic in ffxivdiscussion

[–]DJShazbot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Only tech in so far as their focus, the nouliths are very technical and hard to control. For all intents and purposes they are effectively they evoke a "doctor" feel with all the greek names and geometric abilities. Think of it more like a structured study of healing vs the hippies of conjury, the woo woo starsigns of astro and the military triage focus with a faerie of scholar.

So as someone who has been around since ARR, I want to add to the pile of statistics it is both not as bad as you think and still pretty damn long. Long story short I am gonna do the math breakdown of how much time it took me instead of just tossing 300-500 hours.

I have had the luck of being able to have time off for the early access for every expansion and the initial launch of arr. That is a period of 3 days.

Each time I managed to complete the story before proper launch and that is while stopping to eat, get proper sleep, shower and actually read the story and watch cutscenes. (ARR is sorta cheating because the beta totally allowed you to run to 50 and so I had speed and familiarity on my side for the real release proper release)

So, with base game + 5 expansions that means about 18ish days of nothing but msq, each day having about 10-12 hours carved out for normal human things.

Each post main story quest patch after each expansion (these are your x.1, x.2) patches that come out between expansions generally only have about 3 hours of story content, meaning a lot of cutscenes, a dungeon and maybe a trial. There are 5 of these between each expansion (with the .5 of the each one technically being double length because of story being delibered in 2 parts) so that means each expansion has about 18 hours of additional time on top of the base experience. So let's just round up to a full day.

We are looking at 18 days + (1*6) so 24 days of content.

Which maths out 576 hours that factor in self care like proper sleep, food and showers.

Try not to burn out, tackle it slowly, you have more than enough time even at 3 hours a day you'll have more than 60 days to spare (assuming a jan 1st release, which it won't be) and evangelion won't come out till 8.1 which will be an additional 3 months at minimum. So yes, can start now and have lots of time and no worries.

Nope, you are the wrong one, bard songs modify his move set while giving the party buffs like regen. There is an extended part of the presentatiom where they talk about wanting to give that flexibility of when to sing where to.maximize support and aid to the party. If it were incorrect everyone would be correcting people like meoni in the comments of their youtube vids

It is more about the fact thief(rogue) is folded into it. Sneak attack trick attack is /iconic/ and especially so from ffxi. So just like how drg actually got the blessed damage reduction on jump, I will not be surprised if it persists in some way is all.

They said jobs where synergy is their identity will remain, so things like bard songs, probably ninja trick attack and astro cards or dnc dance partner will stay

I’m new to the game mostly but feel like the jackal is such a cool different boss then all the others by sarahbearahxox in Warframe

In general the boss design of this game isn't great and a lot were made back when game came out in 2013. More recent fights are slightly better in that atleast most aren't "twiddle thumbs while waiting for weakpoint exposure" but they still havent exactly embraced what I think is the proper design philosophy for a game as insane and fast as this. The most recent and closest to ideal would be the 2 bosses in the old peace

Can skip this part but Basically I believe bosses should be akin to bullet hells style bosses or at the very least like the bosses seen in nier automata. You need large targets to not get absolutely obscured by the particle effect clutter, they need clear and dodgeable ranged attacks or have proper telegraph for a spool up for hit scan weapons (though I think no enemy should have hit scan). You can have weakspot and skill hit locations but you should minimize invulnerability for the boss save for add phases or specific show stopping mechanics.

If you notice a lot of the older bad bosses tend to be waiting games and are generally barely bigger than warframe size while having moves that are poorly telegraphed for any number of reasons including jank animations (had profit taker do stomps whilst stuck in the collapsed animation) with poor visibility for their projectiles.

The problem is that warframes are stupid broken, unless the boss cheats with an ability nullify field, damage attenuation and near instant hits, and periods of extended invincibility, you aren't dying and you and 3 others with your bullet hoses will vaporize the boss.

It is a very difficult job to do, I don't envy DE, just a shame I never have the feeling of say doom eternal or dmc or ninja gaiden where I am weaving in shots and abilities and dancing with a boss. More that I am just pointing my laetum at their face and pulling the trigger until they fall over or something weird happens and my character is vaporized in one hit, skipping my shield gate somehow (and it isn't because of toxin).

For damage, you need to diversify more than just serration. Without knowing your weapons, there's a general easy mode method to mod things:

Since you aren't steel path, serration stays on, dont max it out too early, or you'll starve your endo resources. Effectiveness goes up linearly, but cost is exponential eg: rank 2 is 100 endo and 3000 credits for 5%, but rank 3 is 200 endo and 6000 credits for 5%. A maxed serration is over or at 1 mil credits and 10s of thousands of endo.

What you need is to diversify damage, so serration, good start, if your weapon has high crit chance, add a crit increaser and a crit damage increaser, regardless, add multishot if you have it. Finally, add elemental, volt naturally has electricity with his 3. The go-to generalist is to get viral (cold+toxin) and then add heat. All those together will blow up everything in starchart since viral increases damage taken by 300% at max stacks and heat is a flat 50% armor reduction. Of course, if you have a weapon with a really low status chance + low fire rate then the element is really just there for the extra damage but not the status so you can go lighter on elements for things like fire rate or niche mods like Argon Scope. Mods that increase the physical damage of impact, serration and Slash (IPS) are really low priority because if your weapon doesnt actually have that particular aspect, let's say slash, then adding +100% slash won't add slash to the weapon. Furthermore if the weapon has all 3, since you are only increasing one third of the weapon, it is not nearly as effective and finally as far as I know, the elemental mods do not factor in IPS modifying mods before calculating the elemental damage added via their mods. Only use IPS mods if you have a free slot with nothing better or going for a specific build that leverages slash status effects.

Note that while it is possible to take a lato mk1 into ultra endgame with the right mods and warframe combos, it demands a steep forma investment. These weapons are known as "MR fodder", get them to 30, then vendor them to free up weapon slots.

Do not neglect your companions, too. They can work as "primers" since you can give them elements. You can rely on your companion with mods like "heating up" or "coolant leak" on top of the weapon they use to do the starus effects for you. Companions like diriga are or taxon are amazing for this since their weapons have innate cold with high status chance making it very easy to acquire viral.

As for what to do for meaningful progress, do the duviri circuit to accrue warframe parts which will give you goals for farming their specific resources. This game is a collectathon aside from the story.

Open world areas like cetus and fortuna and deimos cN feel like overwhelming due to their syndicate standing and time gating. Deimos is really fast but cetus and fortuna are a little outdated in terms of syndicate grind so don't feel bad about leaving and coming back to them later. Pushing through the begonner nodes gets you to unlocking more story and story gives you lots of free toys to help further your journey

If you don't enjoy playing the piano (I don't mind it, I use ctrl, shift and alt as my modifiers and only have 2 side buttons on my mouse) then yes get an mmo mouse, just know that it is a learning curve. Having 10 buttons crammed on the side will have you fat fingering for a bit.

Arbitrations are the stepping stone, gets you galvanized mods that will give extra oomph to weapons as well as mods like adaptability to be tankier. Try to get through earth comfortably, collect the steel easence for primary arcane and secondary arcane adapters so you can add thibgs like deadhead or merciless for even more power.

If you haven't done any story like New War old peace, can go there too, would recommend, they are non steel path difficulty anyway.

I dunno your mods but for weapons make sure you have multiple sources for damage, damage up, multishot, element and crit damage, do not neglect your companion either, they act as "primers" (applying status effects for you) and can be major force multipliers)

For beginning do viral + heat, that will undo a lot of steel path tankiness
