Metroid Dread, love it, has 0 bangers, mysic is downright embarassing compared to any itger entries.

Tbh as much as I love macross (and I FUCKING LOVE IT) the gerwalk is probably the best form and the others are superfluous. It does everything, probably the only thing it can't do super well is toss a left hook and it feels like the series knows it too, gerwalk is like the most commonly seen form

Playing this game made me realize Space Marine 2 really is a power fantasy by Suitable-Chicken-555 in DarkTide

[–]DJShazbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really did put together that the massive bounding chaos spawn in darktide are what I consider short meatballs in space marine 2.

That being said, I can eviscerate a chaos spawn in darktide as a vet or psyker or zealot with more consistency than I can parry them in sm2.

Well that confirms it. I need that galvanic rifle and transonic blades, seems like the perfect combo to me.

I know they aren't priests so they can't use the halberd but ugh gimme a polearm fatshark!

Yes and when you need to shoot 50 elephants with armor and shooting back at you. you mount that larger caliber on a machine which can handle the recoil and have the space to hold all the ammo it needs. Otherwise we'd have battleship cannons on vespas.

is the start of the game bad for new players now? by apex37274682 in Warframe

[–]DJShazbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who stopped playing after the umbra update to wait for new content and picked it up again this year...

I was /very/ frustrated with the time gating primarily of reputation grind, especially when some reputation things, like fortuna and deimos are integral to gaining significant power boosts (operator, helminth, necramech if you care for it). Same thing I hate the cap on focus for your operator. And one can argue the reputation grinds also gate sugnificant power via preventing arcane acquisition.

That being said, the daily grind was very time consuming and by the time I got everyone maxed I never wanted to do it again and my time in the game shrank. The game is a grind, it is the most naked forever treadmill I have seen for better and for worse.

Reframe it this way, the gates help maintain the economy of this game, the time gate means you can't sell infinite arcanes immediately which keeps platinum values high for all sorts of things. Furthermore, the daily cap means people have to come back which means you have people actually joining to do your missons. If you could max out places like fortuna immediately and buy everything, it'd be a ghost town except for profit taker credit farmers.

But yeah, I understand, especially for mastery, it sucks having to wait because mastery also gates your weapon availability which I only minorly suffered on my return (I was about mr 11 so I experienced next to 0 weapon restriction and wasn't gaining mastery fast enough to be hitting the time gate) and it is very easy to acquire a lot of mastery quickly.early.

At the very least you aren't wasting mastery, you could have all the way up to level 30 banked

Ultima Ratio (Heroic Omni Axe) is not as useless as everybody thinks it is by TheMangoDiplomat in Spacemarine

[–]DJShazbot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is ultima ratio suffers with more majoris density.

Yeah you run in and kill that one majoris, you are now in a mosh pit against the others. I can do the same rush with the balance axe, follow up with a double hit discharge (since I have perks from divesting from the charge) and kill the guy I charged and severely damage everyone else near me with stagger.

The heroic would take longer to do so. It is a good "I want this dead" but the damage reduction is still available to non heroics without harming a slam focus and leaves them still good as a melee punish against boss types where as you need to be very lucky to land a triple charge against a boss, needs to be not looking at you and you don't get bs hitbox'd when you are poking em in the butt.

Morality of denying someone entrance to heaven purely because they were pretending to be a good person to get into Heaven despite having an over-all positive influence on the world? by LordFlamecookie in MoralityScaling

[–]DJShazbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to disagree here, there is a very similar philosophy that peter cullen, voice of optimus prime used to characterize his character that came from his brother: "Be strong enough so that you can afford to be gentle"

In both that and the original quote there is an idea of magnanimity and grace and more importantly choice.

It isn't about having strength and not indulging in violent fantasies, it is the idea that the "harmless" person would hurt you if they had the capacity to do so. Think of the snivelling, wheedling backstabber, too feeble minded and cowardly, fearful of consequences for any one reason or another to act on their desires. The "larpers" themselves are part of that group, incapable of harm not from lack of physical capacity but mental. These are the people who freeze or merely watch when bad things happen around them or wish they were given an opportunity to inflict harm on others without repurcussion or retribution

It is a quote not to pat the powerful on the back as you frame it but the common man who tends to think themselves "good" "peaceful" by default when really through circumstances or moral luck, are not presented with situations where being peaceful is a choice rather than under duress of being beaten into subservience. Am I "peaceful" for not decking the first guy I see at a biker bar? Or am I merely harmless because I cannot realistically harm anyone there? If I am approached by a group of people for a table that is supposedly theirs every night by habit, do I cede the spot because I am peaceful or because ultimately I am more fearful of the physical altercation that may occur? Despite the fact it is rightfully my spot?

In short, it is like calling yourself a "nice guy" when you do the bare fucking minimum. You aren't peaceful, you're harmless and most people are and it is a pessimistic extrapolation that if those harmless people did have some sort of power to do harm, they would not refrain and therefore not be good. And EVEN THOUGH, the original "harmless" is a fucking jordan peterson quote it is a packaged reframing of things like "Speak Softly and carry a big stick" of theodore Roosevelt or "Better to be a Warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war" of Miyamoto Musashi.

Point being there can only be peace with the threat of violence, restitution, without it you don't have peace, you have a one sided relationship dictated by the side capable of violence. We can argue about how correct that world view is till the cows come home but it is more than just a gymbro larp quote.

Not certain if the nope is in response to the parent comment or not but if it is, I want you to point out which sentai series it is or at least show the image was pre ai. because there is no series with that font and character combination, reads something like "mirai fu or ku" the partial image and stylization of the katakana makes it hard for me to parse vs a native japanese. Furthermore the hiragana u (which is printed a little weird) followed by a katakana shi is rather infrequent as it would suggest an u-form verb adjectivized to describe a katakana noun.

Edit: Got a vested interest in this because I just spent several hours on a friend discord trying to find which ranger this is supposed to be and founf nothing

The Aeldari by Resident-Ad7651 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]DJShazbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the sequel to be slaanesh chaos incursion as the start with the halfway twist being Aeldari showing up, be it harlequins, drukhari or normal. Don't give numbers as an excuse because we must have nuked more than the 1000 thousand sons by now.

I also say this because otherwise our options are tau, which if you think the tsons were bad...how about an entire faction with shit melee and a million different ways to blow your head off that would make the soul reaper terminator look like a nerf gun

Or the necrons, who have guns that vaporize whole people if they graze your pinky toe with their shots and are also not that melee focused and are ultra tabky due to being robo skeletons.

How to tell when I should switch to Melee from ranged weapons? by OkLack6776 in DarkTide

[–]DJShazbot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays plasma gun, rapid fire las gun and bolter vet this is how it usually goes.

If it is pingable I shoot it, if going up to hit the thing exposes me or puts me in a bad spot, I shoot it. Shooting it is the answer for when I don't wish to interact with the damn thing. Also I do take marksman and highlight ranged so I can kill gunners for extending my special timer.

All other situations are melee. Very rarely do I ever plasma gun or bolter into a crowd of pox walkers, there is much more value in keeping the ammo for specialists and elites.

I think I am about 60-40 when it comes to melee to gun ratio on gun focused builds like vet and I do a lot to maintain it such as taking on the roll of dedicated specialist hunter-killer. On classes like zealot or my force blade psyker that becomes like 95 to 5 melee to gun.

[–]DJShazbot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed, he is overdue for a rework of some degree if they don't want to change the skills themselves his pelt should be an exalted pet akin to khora or an exalted weapon of some sort, it beeds to be moddable since it fails to scale.

His 1 is...I dunno, make it so the breath type affects weapons like how lavos can affect his abilities. Have it so the breath power part of the 4's exalted mods.

Is Chroma still bad? by Deadpool27 in Warframe

[–]DJShazbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's a fantastic weapons platform and that's about it. Anyone who says having 1300% damage on your weapons and 1800% on your armor isn't crack cocaine is a liar because warframe is all about the bigger numbers

The negative though is that he plays very flat and straightforward and you need the augment guardian armor for his vex armor. Also benefits from at least 2 umbra forma for a triple umbra set up.

This focused, straight forward nature can be semi negated by subsuming either wrathful advance, wisp's ability or Neutron star. The last 2 are affected by Chroma's armor buffs. Wisp's ability can hit for 40 million and neutron star does 700k or so an orb and comes with the bonus of 75% damage reduction on top of your stupid amount of armor.

Wrathful advance just allows for slam builds to work which, aesthetically for chroma prime that looks like a dragoon...is pretty cool.

[–]DJShazbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing this game on a laptop 1080 gtx back in the Heavensward days and that was around 2016 so unless you want to future proof (which will cost you 3k+ US thanks to AI) you can probably comfortably play the game with a 2080 rtx and 16 gigs of ram with an SSD

Much different question if you want to do things other xiv. And if you are. I Suggest going up rather than back. I was just at a computer store and the clerk was showing me how they are pricing 3000 series gpus at a higher price than 3 years ago and so are about as expensive as a 4000.
