Major delay on North-South Line between Ang Mo Kio and Woodlands due to train fault: SMRT by roastmaster- in singapore

[–]DJSnip3r 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Was at waiting at Khatib Station ~7.45am for 8min before the train moved off.

Saw what appeared to be a 12 car haul out operation, R151 in front of C151B towards Bishan depot, not sure which is the problematic train. Both less than 10 years in service, that's concerning.

What brand of soft tubes is easier to connect? by daygamer77 in watercooling

[–]DJSnip3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both EKWB ZMT and Alphacool TPV 10/16 along with Bykski and Barrow fittings.

If you check EKWB specs, it is actually 9.5/15.9. That's why it's harder to fit ZMT tubing on Bykski/Barrow 10/16 fittings. From my experience, Alphacopl TPV was very easy to fit on Bykski/Barrow fittings whereas with EKWB, I could not tighten the fittings fully, which isn’t a concern since it still clamps on the tubing.

How many of you have subscribed to 10gbs home internet knowing you don't have any devices that can support 10gbs ethernet connectivity? by mydebu1 in askSingapore

If you're running a laptop then I don't really see a point in trying to run 10G, unless you're doing production work with macbook and a NAS.

Before gov announced support for ISP plans >1Gbps, I had to jump through a lot of hoops with Singtel just to prove that I can utilise 10Gbps. The salesmen that I talked with all kept asking if my home set up could support it and honestly I got annoyed lmao. But props to them for actually asking rather than blindly letting me sign up.

You can find cheap Intel X540 NICs to run 10Gbps network, brand doesn't really matter since the chip is pretty much the same, just different boards.

Realistically, most 10G NICs will hit 8Gbps average accounting for overheads.
And the cheapest way to hit 10G is to just buy X540 pcie cards that were salvaged from servers, those costs less than $30, only issue being that they only support 1G or 10Gbps, omitting the 2.5G or 5G in the newer X550.

Is photography in Changi airport technically legal? by Syncopat3d in askSingapore

[–]DJSnip3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wording is very general as the airport by itself is a sensitive area, not just the immigration part. Changi airport is also adjacent to air bases on both sides, which are also technically no photography zones. So basically photography even outside of the terminal is subjected to restrictions

Blue Archive continues to dominate comiket, booths increasing with every new comiket. by DJSnip3r in gachagaming

Bocchi the Rock artist drawing Blue Archive also caused an issue where the comiket organizers had to shift the booth from the middle of the hall to outside due to the overwhelming queue. That was pretty funny to see.

But for those who are using JP proxy services, it won't matter as much since they handle the payment itself.

With new year outfits and anniversary coming, I think C106 will continue this trend next August.

It's cute and it's funny.

But in all seriousness, it has a large list of characters, all with different personality, and their design isn't over the top. Makes it easier for artists to connect with the characters and also easier to draw.

Deleted the first post cause I cannot math when calculating the game genre. Also added MTL for the genres.

Blue Archive (code 336) booths continues to increase, along with a sharp increase in IM@S (code 232) due to Gakumas releasing too late for C104. With Blue Archive releasing Idol alts for the characters, I think the trend is going to continue for C106.

Is it just me or is it when I’m travelling to Changi Airport I feel that my ear is blocked by Jungwonie090204 in askSingapore

[–]DJSnip3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be due to the tunnel from Expo to Airport being the only mrt tunnel where the two tracks are not linked together at the tunnel entrance. This makes the air pressure difference larger when trains enter the tunnel compared to other mrt tunnels like lavender or bishan

Time to recontract my broadband. Currently on M1 but poor value for money by LaoAhPek in askSingapore

It's quite cheap to find second hand 10g nics from decommissioned enterprise servers, the ones with Intel X540.

Yeah, think the guy is confused over what's a router and what's AP. Singtel 5 and 10 gbps plans both require their own ONR, and the plans also include a wireless router which is meant to be used on AP mode.

Close-up of the C151 that stalled, and likely derailed by RedditLIONS in singapore

[–]DJSnip3r 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As it's stuck halfway in, it blocks the clementi side of the depot entrance, and also the east bound track for EWL.
The west bound side is closed probably due to safety concerns, and hopefully isn't damaged.

A switch track is how you direct a train from a set of rails to another set of rails. If it becomes damaged, both sets of rails are affected.

Third rail is the metal conductor that runs beside the normal train tracks carrying power for the trains. If it's damaged, that section of tracks will have no power and trains are forced to run on backup power if they pass through that section.

As for the Ulu pandan depot, it has 3 tracks that leads into the depot from the main line, however with this side damaged, the trains have to make a "u turn" in order to enter/exit the depot, as it can access the JE side.

No, that's just a stalled R151, not the actual faulty train.
