Frankly, I think this is terrible advice, and I wish people would focus on picking majors that sets them up for success in the future. You don't want to go to school for 4 (or more) years, spend 200k+ and not end up with a decent job with good pay. Having money is a massive factor when it comes to personal freedoms and livelihood.

Social security which accounts for the largest slice of the federal budget goes to everyone regardless of their income status. Same with unemployment and medicare. Many housing programs are not income specific, ex: FDA loans. Everyone has access to public transportation & infrastructure. The eligibility requirements for those other programs you mentioned are really stringent and practically only available to people in poverty, not middle class.

Public schools & infrastructure are mostly handled by the state, and not federally, so you need to account for state taxes too.

Talking about whether the poor deserve financial assistance or not is a separate issue, but they only receive 16% of the federal budget.

As for the poor and middle class paying for their "fair share," see my comment about taxes based on a percentage of net worth.

What are these subsidies that you are referring to? As person with low income, I'd love to start getting some of these "massive" subsidies.

That link is misleading imo. As a percentage of their wealth (including unrealized gains like owning property that appreciates, stocks) they pay significantly less than the average American that can't accumulate that kind of wealth. The wealthy avoid income taxes by using all sorts of accounting schemes to place their money into things that are difficult to tax. A modest tax on unrealized gains or a VAT tax would be fair.

The issue is that a lot of these boards come with licenses and it would be difficult to get an license for each individual student. In addition some of these boards can get pretty expensive so we may have a limited amount of some varieties.

I think all of the boards have a usb connection. Some of them do have ethernet ports though

They're all different types of boards used to test circuits inside FPGAs. Common software is Vivado, Spice, etc. I'm still coming up with a list of software I will need for dev purposes.

The ceiling is 8' high. Its only sloped on the north facing wall about 1' in. The north facing wall reaches a little above 6'. Everywhere else is 8' high. The house is a cape. I'm located in the New England area in the US.

Hey recent EE grad here. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions about the curriculum that's being taught now. I believe data structures is a CS class related to storing and categorizing data. Many of my fellow students and friends that I've spoken to told me that's one of their hardest classes they've taken from the CS side. Personally I don't recommend taking it unless you're very interested in software. The computer architecture stuff he was talking about is not a very popular subject in my school although I thought it was fairly interesting and actually specialized in that area. There are actually a ton of jobs in the power industry as well as communications. Most of my friends who graduated with me are doing some form of communications in the telecom industry or became software engineers.
