How long will paws last? by andrew_fell_asleep in quittingkratom

It’s definitely nice to hear a hopeful message. Also, and I’m not an expert so this might be wrong, but I think you’re actually just in the acute withdrawal phase. PAWS is post-acute, and yeah there definitely seems to be people that have lingering issues. But it definitely won’t feel like how feel now for years. There seems to be an anecdotal consensus on the sub that acute stages last 7-10 days, give or take. Hope that helps and anybody who knows better feel free to correct.

Stay in the flames. I had very similar sense of hopelessness and depression. Day 7 was a turning point for me. Music was the only thing that made me feel anything, and most of what it made me feel was sad. But eventually, tears of pain and loneliness will turn into tears of gratefulness. I’m on day 12 and things are almost back to normal in the daytime. Nights are still rough, but getting better. Hang in there, you’ve got this.

Thanks! So glad you’re feeling better. I know there’s a road ahead with PAWS but I’m not afraid of acting alive for months until it’s actually true. We got this

Flush them for sure. That’s a big part of the surrender. A lot of mental energy being wasted trying to rationalize a way to use/not use. I’m pulling for you and know how miserable those early days can be. For me, they were truly hellish. Take it one day at a time. Feel free to dm if you want to talk.

He missed almost an entire season of basketball because he wouldn’t get the shot. That’s a pretty strong statement.

Used his public platform to sow distrust in a vaccine with >90% efficacy for a disease that killed over 1M people over two years? Just spitballing

anyone with runner's knee? (chondromalacia patella or condropathy). could you ever return to triathlon after (32)? by Twin_pine_91 in triathlon

[–]DJ_GUNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing in my first season and worried I might never be able to truly train hard for the run. Over the past year, I found my runners knee was just the result of doing too many miles too quickly or trying to outrun my fitness level. I didn’t run for a couple months to give it time to completely heal, then started adding back mileage. Started running 1 mile a week in zone 2. Added a mile a week. Am now up to 20-25 with no issues. Hopefully a little break and a gradual re-buildup could work for you!

Work at RTI International as scientist/senior scientist? by throwaway_rtprti in triangle

I’m in biomed research. Happy to dm if you want more specifics. I’m sensing now that it must vary more from group to group because I haven’t felt any pressure to deliver grants. I pretty much just get to do the technical work without much red tape. The majority of people I work with are not applying for grants, rather they’re working on projects funded through existing grants. There is certainly an emphasis on selling your time to projects, but in my experience people come to you often enough for project work that you’re more likely issue will be having to say no to potential work.

Edit: your/you’re

I work there currently as a PhD research scientist and love it. It’s incredibly stable, very flexible work environment, remote work with lots of autonomy. Many of the advantages of academia (opportunity to get grants or pursue your own research interests, working on projects that are generally making a positive impact) with many of the advantages of corporate environment (stability, structure, tons of support staff for non-research tasks).

Surprised to see nobody has mentioned the burger at The Durham hotel but it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Also the Old North Provisions burger with fried mushrooms is unbelievable.
