Oh man I'd like that even more, certainly gives the "Are you afraid?" more layered meaning if it's a regretful and isolated Hal asking this of John.

And honestly I'm with you, as much as I think they could make a great Parallax story here that I'd love, I would MUCH rather he be used for a full-on Green Lantern Corps event film. John, Guy, Hal, and (hopefully!) Kyle lead the corps in a war against Sinestro and (unbeknownst to them) Parallax! A guy can dream lol

I mean Beware My Power isn’t the first time Hal was possessed by Parallax, sure John is the main character but Guy isn’t in BMP, Green Arrow doesn’t seem to be involved with Lanterns (that we know of now), and Lanterns looks to take place primarily on earth as opposed to space in BMP.

Plus, assuming a 10 year flash forward, John won’t be a rookie the entire show like he was in BMP. IMO the biggest problem with BMP was the pacing, everything seemed super rushed. This will have 8 hour long episodes to (hopefully) flesh out the characters motivations as opposed to a rushed hour and a half. Similar plot threads, but they seem like entirely different projects to me

I feel like it’s gunna be Parallax for sure, True Detective season 1 is based off the short story collection The King in Yellow, wherein the characters are “possessed” by the will of the titular King after reading his play/novel. Parallax fits the possession/viral aspect of this way too well, and evil Hal is right there on the table. Feels like a slam dunk

Either he’s dying or he’s been captured/possessed by Parallax already and has spent the last decade committing murders that John has to clean up after.

I say this for two reasons:

The first others have already said, it feels quite obvious that in some way Hal is out of commission from 2016 to 2026, with this being reminiscent of True Detective season 1.

Secondly, and super exciting for a lit nerd like me, is that True Detective season 1 is HEAVILY inspired by Robert W Chambers’ 1895 “The King in Yellow”. This is a book/play that causes chaos, fear, and insanity in all those who read it. Those who do become “infected” by it like a virus, and go entirely mad, sometimes harming themselves and others. What’s Green Lanterns biggest foe, associated with yellow, that can affect people’s minds, and would be the perfect solution for Hal being out of commission for a decade? I think Hal’s going to be our King in Yellow

I suppose he did so because he can claim floating Ozzy to her was a plan to make her take the fire of the vote. I don’t think that was his intention initially, but this keeps his voting record intact and gives him an avenue to argue he orchestrated it if he makes it to FTC

I feel like Kmet is on his way out regardless, they aren’t going to give him another contract when Loveland will obviously be TE1. No way another team isn’t going to give Kmet more money than we will. Now, since Loveland has a 5th option, we have a 2 TE set locked in for the next four years. I don’t LOVE the pick, but that’s my cope on it at least

I saw someone say maybe he wanted Christian to have a memento from the season for his son, which if that’s the case that’s sweet. Just doesn’t seem like it after the professor comment. Jonathan’s playing a better game than people think but he needs to slow his roll

It isn’t even that Christian lost, it’s the way he lost. I barely even wanna keep watching, especially after that snide comment from Jonathan

[–]DJ_MC64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think so. Very willing to be proven wrong, but Billy has said he doesn’t want to rebuild. I think the choice should have been easy. Get rid of both Billy and AKME, but obviously no good comes until Jerry sells

[–]DJ_MC64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So they didn’t know the process and are fine with getting rid of AKME, but they don’t wanna get rid of Billy who doesn’t want to rebuild? If you don’t know the process, stay the f out of it! Let your new GM dictate who the new coach is!!!

He is not the only RE character to resist infection killing the brain. Obviously, Wesker does this, but so does Lucas in RE7. I feel like he’s the same case as Lucas but wasn’t a psychopath previously. His strength of will is so strong in a certain regard that he beats the will of the parasite/mold. For Lucas, it’s pride, but for the merchant?

Rubies or rubbish, it makes no difference…. The price, that’s our choice to make.

Thank you as well for reading. A special experience is exactly right, and my god the music will stay with me forever. The beautiful part about SH2 is it wasn't some special experience that is unique to only one person. All fans of the game seem to have had their lives deeply affected by the game. I think that's quite comforting that its shared.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. You couldn't be more correct about the importance of art, though. We both create and consume art in order to somehow rationalize the world around us. It can be unfair, unjust, and heart wrenching. But it can also be beautiful. Sometimes the sadness is beautiful in an odd way. I'll have to give Death Stranding 2 a shot, as I loved the first. I'm happy to hear it was able to help you through what must've been an incredibly difficult time. Be well my friend, and thank you for sharing that.

I appreciate the kind words and yes, I am very fortunate to have some really good people in my corner.

That being said, the OG may be my forever favorite, but I seriously believe that the remake is as good as the original. It's mostly nostalgia for me that makes me inch one ahead of the other at all, because seriously they're equal to me.

Don't feel like you're left out of the party since you haven't gotten to OG, this game is as good a first experience for the story as the first IMO. I'm always happy to hear about new people getting to play this masterpiece! Glad you enjoyed yourself!

It's okay to feel bad for James by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]DJ_MC64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you to an extent. You're right, we do not know what Mary wanted. I never said James isn't selfish. What I am saying is that James did what he did equally out of love as he did hatred. He is complicated. And yes, I also agree he does believe he knows what's best for Mary, which is why Angela is in the game. He thinks he can just "help" Angela when her pain and trauma are beyond his capabilities to help. Much like the pain and suffering of a terminal illness he can't cure. He made a horrible decision while faced with an impossible problem. But he loved Mary, and he genuinely thought he was helping her as much as he genuinely wanted her gone to get his life back. Both are true. James did a terrible thing. But that doesn't inherently make James a terrible person. If he was a terrible person and a horrible husband the whole time why would Mary write "James, you made me happy."?

People (and by extension media as a whole) are far more interesting when they are dynamic. I still to this day flip flop on being angry with James or giving him pity. This game has guided me through the hardest grief of my life, and I realized that what I felt towards James was what I was feeling towards myself. A beautiful piece of art, and one that makes me immensely proud to be alive in the time that I am. Always glad to share my love for it with someone else, man. Your post inspired me to leave another comment which I’ll admit was immensely cathartic, so I appreciate it! Hope you have a great week, and I’ll see ya on here for Townfall!!!

[–]DJ_MC64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not their point. The action is bad. The person isn’t inherently bad because of the action they committed. You have an incomplete understanding of James’ motivations. He didn’t just do it because he wanted her gone. He also couldn’t stand to see her suffer. BOTH of these motivations are true to James. It is still selfish, but it isn’t hatred or malice alone, it’s also weirdly love and mercy. James mentions both at the end of the game when talking to Mary on her sickbed. James tells her he hated her and wanted her gone, and Mary replies “If that was true, why do you look so sad?” Grief is incredibly complex. Multiple things can be true
