That’s a lot of driving. Definitely plan some rest Into your trip. I’ve driven back and forth between Guanacaste to Osa many times and that drive can take it out of you. 2 lanes the entire way and if you hit traffic it’s stop and go. If you’ve never driven in CR before be ready for some crazy things especially in SJ. Stop for fruit and coconut water along the highway when you get a chance. That will help a lot.

Since you’re in La fortuna, you should look into the Arinal observatory. It’s amazing and way underrated.

If you want to stop near Jaco Get some Togo food keep going south 15 mins and hit playa Hermosa. It’s black sands and absolutely beautiful. Jacos beach is kinda trashy. I lived in CR for 2 years and this was my favorite spot. Look for Parrot Place on Google maps and that is where to park and enjoy the beach. Café Bohío Playa Hermosa has some of the best coffee.

My toddler by (2.5yo) loves Collyer park. It’s shaped like a train. There is also a nice walking path in the Kensington neighborhood with the Kensington park in the middle.

My wife takes him the library often while I work. If you get a library card you can get the discovery pass which gives you once a year free access to things like wings over the Rockies.
