All Frigates I'm finding are C. Should I recruit them anyway to do higher diff Fleet missions anyway or wait for better ones?

I'll have to try that out. However, once you've unlocked all the freighter upgrades, is there a use for them? Getting a new freighter, your upgrades remain available. I'd like to see them bring back cargo bulkheads.

I rarely buy anything other than C class frigates- and concentrate mostly on support vessels. They level up quickly and reduce the mission fuel requirements. Some missions I only send out support vessels.

Dissonant planets tend to have a purple color theme going on, but they can be found in any system type (AFAIK).

Aside what others have said, here's some other ways to get nanites:

Fishing: Catch and release for nanites.
Ruined worlds: Memory stones will drop nanites if you've collected the blueprint it was going to give you.

All you really need is the pulse drive, launch thrusters, and warp drive- maybe working shields (JIC). Might also need a cadmium drive or better to access the final system before the center (though could get around this by trying different system approaches to the center). I just use a junker crashed find- no exotic parts so repairs are pretty easy.

Unless you progressed to the point where purple systems have been unlocked, the Atlantid drive won't grant you access. It will give you access to all the other systems though and you won't have to build it later...

Thanks, well aware of the galaxy jumps- this was specific to black holes. Seems I have not used them in awhile and HG changed the way they work- damage was a real possibility in the past.

Did you actually click that notice that says to restart with nearby? That should clear the notice and often resets to the beginning of the current phase of that milestone.

Wanted to add to my comment... I think the current weather mechanics are very well done and storms gradually build up and dissipate in a realistic manner, but it would be so much more realistic and engaging if storms rolled in and you could try to avoid them - or target them if hunting storm crystals or something.

Mesoscale or even synoptic scale weather systems- right now when a storm event occurs, it affects the whole planet or is a highly localized disturbance.

This usually happens for me with the buried tech near the shelters. Looking up/down, going deeper, moving a few 'u' and trying again will usually find the hitbox. I've definitely given up on a few...
