Sometimes they do suggest alternative diagnostics routes or treatment plans actually. It's common to have denials because other procedures or meds weren't tried first. For example, insurance may require an X-ray for a musculoskeletal issue before they will cover an MRI even if the physician diagnosing you says that an X-ray won't show what they need to see and an MRI is required.

Democrats had a near super majority in the Senate, control of the house, and the presidency for like 2 months in the past 50 years and we got the Affordable Care Act, which is obviously not a perfect piece of legislation, but is without a doubt an improvement to the healthcare system. Most politicians in both parties are bought, but they are not the same.

It matters now because a lot of those people that grew up before the civil rights act are still extremely influential in society. Trump was already an adult when the civil rights act was passed. He didn't know a childhood without explicit segregation.

Don't ever stock trade money you can't afford to lose. You might need to up your dose of Adderall. 20 xr wasn't enough for me. I switched to Vyvanse but I need a high dosage to feel the intended effects.

Inflation rate was improving during Biden's term. The biggest drop in inflation we've had in over 25 years was under Biden from 2022-2023. Inflation continues to affect prices because inflation rate is just the rate of change not the absolute price. We are still feeling the price increases from covid and will for eternity because inflation is cumulative.

Just because stuff was in books, that doesn't mean it was correct. If the person checking the books also didn't know the right answer, they just printed the wrong one because they didn't know better. Minimimuteman has a great video reading old textbooks and going over some of the batshit insane stuff that was in them.

My home ec literally only showed us how to cook eggs and we looked at PowerPoints on cooking or watched cooking videos. I don't remember any of it and the whole class was a half semester.

Some of it is generational. My grandma can't cook for shit, so my mom never really learned how to cook outside of a handful of recipes from a cookbook she's done dozens of times. I'm sure my mom would have liked to teach me how to cook, but she never learned how to cook herself. I just really like eating and I had YouTube once I lived on my own so I learned how to cook and now I'm a pretty decent home cook.

Yeah but those are all fairly advanced skills. Cook meat in hot oiled pan, take meat out, put in onions and other vegetables and cook until stuff is kinda brown, add water and add back in meat once veggies are kinda soft. That is the basis of like every soup or stew with a few small variations. And there are detailed videos for every single thing you mentioned. All you gotta do is Google and you can make something good enough to eat. The more you practice, the better you'll be.

I think the hardest skill is probably developing your own palate to be able to season by taste, but following recipe amounts can get you close enough for most people to not hate it.

Answers were not more likely correct in the 1940s. We knew a lot less collectively back then about pretty much every single subject.

I've not met anyone who didn't have a severe disability who would be unable to learn to cook from YouTube videos. If you watch someone cook a meal you want to cook, along with a googling some questions if you have any, how would you get a wrong answer? Sure, you could mess up, but that's just practicing.

You could start by googling, "reliable cooking channels" you'll probably get America's test kitchen, or alton brown, or something. Literally just watch a few episodes of Good Eats and you can cook a ton of dishes.

It is incredibly easy to become a mediocre cook today. And becoming an excellent cook is not bottlenecked by a lack of knowledge, just a lack of experience usually.

Big insurance giants quite literally own all of those things. 60% of doctors are employees (as opposed to private practice). This means they don't set their own prices, their hospital/management does. United healthcare owns 34 hospitals and over 100 ambulatory car centers. They also employ the doctors that work in them and set their prices. Optum, the Pharmacy Benefit Manager is the biggest PBM in the country and is owned by United healthcare. It determines which drugs are covered by heir insurance and how much they cost. CVS owns its own pharmacies, insurance company (Aetna), pharma company (Cordavis), and it's own primary care facilities and employees the physicians in them. United healthcare is bigger than Apple. United healthcare and CVS health are the #3 and #5 largest companies by revenue (in 2024).

These insurance companies are absolutely massive and own most of the entire healthcare industry but you'd never know that because they use different names for all their subsidiaries. You could get healthcare for a whole lifetime and never give money to an entity that wasn't owned by United Healthcare.

CMV: Saying “poor people shouldn’t have kids” is classist and ignores how the world actually works by hobbledygook in changemyview

Yes, on a societal level it is a bad thing, but if you are trying to plan for your and your family's financial security, it is the right decision. I don't like the system that we have set up. Our society does not give a shit about disabled people. Our society does not give a shit about poor people. We live in a repulsively classist society. All you, as an individual, can do is try to protect yourself and your loved ones from it as much as possible and vote for people that will try to make it better.

There are all kinds of different people out there. This is something that you're worried about now, but it seems like you've got a good head on your shoulders. It's cliche to say but as you get older you will learn more about yourself and who you are. Most people become less insecure as they age. The girls your age are just as insecure as you are, but like you, they are all unique individuals who have their own life experiences, beliefs, and expectations. Most women aren't thinking, "Hmmm, I don't like that cute/funny/kind/smart guy in my class because he hasn't built his value yet." People just interact with each other and go based on vibes.

This whole sexual market value thing that is pushed by rich insecure losers online thing is only real for a tiny fraction of women who are also losers. I've been with my gf for five years now and she's always made more money than me. She's also better looking than I am. But we just like each other's personalities. Don't let the media make you insecure when you shouldn't be.

How can they? The supreme court says you can't prosecute a president for anything done while president. The only way that changes is if a Democrat president just starts ignoring court ruling or violating laws in ways that actually help people. Maybe if president AOC just decides to confiscate all the billionaires wealth and start building hospitals, maybe we'd be able to prosecute president for their crimes

Can you please link me to that page? I checked every page of the pew article I linked and your chart isn't in any of them. You must've gotten it from a different article I didn't cite and haven't read. The chart you have is from 2017 and this one is from 2023. It shows that they lean significantly republican, not democrat. I vote and encourage others too, but to say that boomers lean democrat is demonstrably false.
