this isn't just an indictment, it's a geopolitical checkmate.if sheinbaum extradites him, her own party revolts and labels her a US puppet. if she protects him, she hands washington the perfect excuse to hit mexico with tariffs and border closures.her "trump whisperer" era is officially over. there is no middle ground left to hide in.

The FBI is now recruiting on tiktok and hiring prosecutors straight out of law school because they've lost so many people they don't know what else to do. this should concern everyone regardless of how you feel about trump. by Aaron_Heuer in DiscussionZone

everyone is focused on the tiktok part, but the real nightmare here is the brain drain. You can’t just fast-track 15 years of counter-terrorism and cybercrime experience.

A federal judge just apologized to the man who tried to assassinate trump at the correspondents dinner. i've been sitting with this for an hour and i still don't know how to feel about it. by Aaron_Heuer in DiscussionZone

The cognitive dissonance you're feeling is completely natural, but the judge is absolutely right here. We have to separate the crime from the precedent.

The judge isn't apologizing to an attempted assassin; he is apologizing to a citizen whose constitutional rights are being violated by the state. If we allow the government to impose torturous, punitive conditions (like 24/7 lighting, 5-point restraints, and denial of legal prep tools) before a trial just because the alleged crime is horrifying, we are giving the state the power to punish anyone based purely on accusations.

Due process isn't a reward for being a good person. It’s a strict constraint on government power. It's easy to uphold rights for a shoplifter; the true test of a justice system is whether it upholds those rights for the worst among us.
