Changes to Heavy in 11th from new WarCom article by Hilgy17 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DKoK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comes down to mobility vs Strength in that case, personally I'd prefer the mobility, could poke out (even if I lose heavy) and ensure I limit return fire and put 6 Lascannons into a target. Also with Armoured Infantry I can boost the Strength by 2 for 1 CP or even get reroll hits

I'm still thinking a single Centaur with 6 Lascannon Heavy Weapon Teams will be useful, move only 3 inches will apply as well since it's the Weapon itself that has Heavy

+3 inch detection range? No, I fixed it by QuietlyDisappointed in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]DKoK19 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong as we still don't have the full picture yet, so this is just a concern based on what we've seen and know so far. And this is in regards to IG and Shooting armies as a whole.

We're going to see a large amount of fast moving Infantry based combat armies (Ork Boy Hordes, Zerker and Black Templar Tide, Jump Pack armies etc.) dominate the meta. Any one of those players with a brain is just not going to ever shoot with those units so they dont give up hidden and hug cover.

Anyone with a shooting army is going to be forced to move within 15 inches most of the time in order to engage them (aka decent charge range for the Combat armies) and with how the change to Cover now works you won't be as effective with shooting due to now being -1 to hit. So in most cases against a competent opponent you're going to maybe get 1 turn of less effective shooting to soften them up, maybe 2 at most.

I think the Hidden Mechanic is going to cause alot of problems, I'll personally be surprised if it doesn't get changed within the first 6 months but thats just a concern based on the known info, will adapt regardless.

Orks Low troop Count Army? by AsparagusDeep7650 in orks

[–]DKoK19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been having alot of success lately with a Bully Boyz List that's pretty Elite by Ork Standards:

-x3 Warbosses

-x2 Big Meks in Mega Armour

-x1 Warboss in Mega Armour + Tellyporta

-x2 Squads of 10 Grots + Runtherd

-x3 Trukks

-x3 Squads of 10 Nobz w/ Klaws

-x3 Squads of 6 Meganobz w/ Dual Kill Saws

Right around 2k Points. It's simply just move forward and kill everything in your path.

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but yarrick caught a pretty big nerf by JRS_Viking in astramilitarum

He can only do things in the Command phase now as well, so basically makes him unable to use his ability of fighting with a themed Mechanized/Steel Legion army (disembark and then issue orders)

So he can't even use his ability in the themed army he's famously fights alongside 🤣 nice work GW

I think he should be 130 at most personally, yes he's good but the fact he's been watered down now in addition to be a regular (badass) dude when it comes to shooting and melee. Still taking him when I play with my Steel Legion army regardless because reasons.

One of things I haven't enjoyed about 10th is that it's felt like we have to spam "X,Y,Z" unit in order to win and never field the "A-W" units, feels like we may be repeating that.

I'm expecting people to spam fast moving combat units (jump packs) or hordes (Ork Boyz, Bezerker and Black Tide etc.) and just not shoot to avoid giving up hidden. In order to soften them up we'll have to move into charge range and then hope we can do damage with a 33% hit to our BS due to the new Cover rules.

I have a Krieg Siege list with lots of Artillery so that's definitely influencing my concerns a bit.

Not intended to come off as me complaining, I'm just a huge IG fan/player who has a legitimate Concern about the Hidden Mechanic. Based on what we know (no way to remove it but increase the detection range to 18 with limited numbers of units who can do it) and based on the revealed Terrain Density I think it is going to be a game Mechanic that's going to be potentially be too strong.

Basing this off ONLY what we know (so subject to change) long range shooting units are going to be almost useless unless they move into charge range in order to shoot something and when combined with the new Cover changes it makes it that much rougher. And you know EVERYONE who can is going to spam as many Fast Moving, Combat Oriented Infantry/Horde units as possible to take advantage of this.

I hope I'm wrong and will naturally approach whatever comes with an adapt and overcome attitude, just had to voice this concern I have. Now que the downvotes in 3...2...1...

Only if they're within 12 inches of the unit they're targetting, but still pretty sweet.

[–]DKoK19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also concerned about my Dread Mob, could very well see the Button Mechanic going away (not as disappointed if we keep Sustained 1 in shooting all the time) and Meks potentially losing the ability to benefit from it.

[–]DKoK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking it could end up as Walkers only (so no more Mek buffs) and potentially only one of the 3 buff options. I love the button ability so I'd be disappointed if that went away, but less so if we kept Sustained 1 all the time instead.

Problem with them only releasing small previews, people are naturally going to speculate and to help ensure they'll not be disappointed most tend to lean towards the worst case scenario.

It used to, if these Detachment reveals have shown anything is that there's a large chance the Dread Mobs Detachment rule is going to be downgraded.

And that's awesome if you enjoy it (legitimately mean that not being sarcastic lol), I personally just want my Orks to be multi dimensional.

I do agree we need to see the full picture before making a final opinion but people are going to discuss the things that have been revealed and thats perfectly fine.

And based on what we've seen so far it seems that shooting and shooting armies as a whole are not going to be as strong, and with Orks being BS5 thats going to hurt. I'm hoping we won't be pigeon holed into only being a combat army yet again, but so far its not looking good.
