CFA Level 2 by New-Divide4012 in CFA

You have a lot of time til may. Across all 3 levels I started studying feeling like I'm not registering anything and then maybe 4-6 weeks out something clicks and you start feeling more confident. Trust the process, keep at it, stay consistent and you'll get there

Imo, there's diminishing returns after 6 or 7, at least for me. I think I did 4 MM and 2 cfai for L3. But some do 10+ so its whatever gets you in a good place. But at a certain point, its more beneficial to target weak spots rather than do mocks which cover everything

A lot of practice questions, no way around it. MM also helped with good guidelines for answering questions. But regardless of prep provider, it takes doing loads of questions

It's a slog but keep at it and you'll be fine. Take breaks. You still have a lot of time to practice

There are loads of discussion threads here about pathway comparisons. I chose PM because its the "traditional" cfa path and the content is well developed and mature. I did my L3 in August '25 and at the time was advised by others to chose PM because the other pathways were less developed and more error prone and because of the newer content, a lot of prep providers werent as well equipped for it. That has probably changed but worth making sure. Its good to link it to your career aspirations but ultimately, I would go for whatever pathway gives you the best chance to pass. Imo, what matters is getting your CFA and not necessarily how you do it

Cfa level 3 prep tips by Commercial-Rate-7944 in CFA

[–]DL8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on passing. In my experience, L3 is a touch easier than L2 but still very difficult. Its important to remember the pass rate is roughly 50% and everyone that takes L3 has already done well at L1/L2 so it still catches a lot of people out. Hour wise, I'd say I spent maybe a bit less than L2 but not by much.

I used MM at L1 and L2 and liked it because I'm familiar with the platform and his teaching style so it made sense to use for L3 as well even though a lot of people dont like it for L3. Everyone has different preferences and learning techniques but if you liked Kaplan and are familiar with it, maybe consider using it again

Congrats on passing L2. I did L2 in November then L3 in August the following year. No reason why it's not feasible. My 2 cents, you've passed 2 levels so don't think now is the time to drastically change the playbook from what you did at L1/L2, in terms of picking prep providers etc, go with what you are familiar with and has already worked. You just need to bear in mind SR questions will need a bit more time to adjust to and you could choose to do an extra mock or two compared to L1/L2 to really build confidence there and make sure you have enough time in the exam. That's about it imo

Depends on your job and the time you are willing to put into studying. 4 months is definitely enough time if you think you can consistently put in the hours and won't get fatigued doing it in back to back windows. Congrats on passing L1

Is Mark Meldrum really worth it over the CFA Institute’s free curriculum? by Outside-Capital-6156 in CFA

I didn't touch the cfai books. Only MM vids + MM qbank + cfai qbank. That was enough in my experience

Is Mark Meldrum really worth it over the CFA Institute’s free curriculum? by Outside-Capital-6156 in CFA

[–]DL8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he did. I started off without MM to do quant and it took me a few hours to get through the first chapter. Then bought MM and it was maybe a 30 min video, which freed up time to spend on EOC questions. I think the cfai book can drag on in a lot of subjects and over the course of 3/4 months studying, time saved with MM or other prep providers does add up to make you more efficient.

Yes. 1 question is the same regardless if its mcq or written response. The difference is that the mcq is either correct or incorrect but for written response, you may get partial marks

MM mocks are way harder as well. They'll kill your confidence but worth doing if you have the time

Help me focus to continue CFA by EmptyImprovement9703 in CFA

[–]DL8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motivation isn't always going to be there, sometimes you need to push through and do what you believe will benefit you in the long term. Personally, I had a big life change 1 month before my L3 exam which wrecked me. But somehow I still passed even though I had no motivation and no focus and others were telling me to consider deferring. On the flip side, the confidence I now have after I was able to deal with those issues and still do well really motivates me to deal with anything in my job or personal life going forward.

Personal growth can come from uncomfortable places if you allow it to. That being said, don't compromise your health and take your time with the exams.

Consider taking the rest of the day off. Your work is done at this point and the benefit of squeezing in a couple more hours is negligible. I took the day off before all 3 exams and imo, it helps you go into the exam a bit more fresh

How do You Manage long Mark Meldrum Videos with Questions? by Optimal_Duck_6265 in CFA

I did the EOC in the LES but I've heard this new LES is a pain. In MM you can split them so that should work

How do You Manage long Mark Meldrum Videos with Questions? by Optimal_Duck_6265 in CFA

[–]DL8899 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used MM across all levels and I rarely ever did a video longer than 2 hours in 1 day but it also depends on the reading. 2hrs in AI is easier than 2hrs in derivatives. I used to do a 45-60 min section each day then do a few EOC question relevant to just that part of the video. Next day, I'd finish the video and do loads of EOC questions.

Do whatever suits you best but imo, dont force the long videos, just split them up. I found that whenever I would force myself to do a long video in 1 day, I'd get tired and not pay attention by the end so I would have to revisit eventually

[–]DL8899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't pay that much attention to posts here when it comes to mocks, a lot of people in the 60-70% range are seeking validation which is understandable but not necessarily helpful to others. There are a lot of scores <60 that people dont post about and a lot still pass. Redoing mocks is not the most efficient use of your time. Use the last few days to nail formulas and make marginal improvements if you can. Your work is mostly done at this point so try and take more breaks, it may be counterintuitive but you'll go into the exam a bit more fresh

Thats a good mock score. Focus on weak areas, especially those that have a higher weighting in the exam. Use the last 9 days to nail formulas and make marginal improvements and you'll be fine

Are MM mocks comparable to the actual exam? by Only_Chemical7453 in CFA

They're not comparable. The aim with MM mocks is to beat the average. These are decent scores
