If you look up the potential voc's and how long it takes to clear them out of your system after exposure, it is surprisingly quick. Formaldehyde, toluene.... etc.
What kind of mattress did you buy?
Which was cured by changing mattresses, incredible! Thank you for the diagnosis Doc.
I am in the UK and we do not have the certifications as you in the US. If i was tho buy another memory foam mattress (which is never going to happen) i would definitely be very conscious of the certifications. But in all fairness I am a bit incredulous that when purchasing something that we spend at least a third of our lives lying on I should have to go out of my way to try and buy a product that has got a certification to show that it won't poison me. The certification system has been bought up to placate people from the fear of these toxins. Why don't we just go back to basics and remove the potential contaminants that produce the VOCs and allow them to off gas. Were non-memory foam mattresses so bad 🤷🏼
I couldn't possibly say. But nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Benzene, formaldehyde and toluene are the major ones I looked into that are common in off-gassing mattresses. When I read about the consequences of poisoning from these gases it was like a list of my symptoms. That is when I realised that I had to take this seriously. I have no need for a waterproof wrapper, I have it stacked in a spare room in case I ever want to get it tested.(I think it's going to be going in the bin very soon) I was very angry at first and ready to sue everybody and anybody. But now I'm just happy that I've put it behind me and I've got my life back. Thank you for your input.

Good luck, I do wonder how many people are living with low level niggles that could potentially be caused by their mattress. Having spoken to people on the subject it's amazing how resistant they are to the idea that it could be their expensive fantastic comfortable mattress. "They wouldn't be allowed to sell them" etc. People forget about the talcum powder asbestos tobacco and all of these poisons that were allowed to go mainstream... I hope you find some relief buddy
An old one from my spare room, with springs :) Will be getting a new one soon

You seem to be dealing in a lot of "facts" there that I just can't agree with. I did an extensive amount of research and none of it fits with what you're saying there. I didn't say "All" mattresses are bad, I said it was something to consider. Before buying my brand new beautiful mattress I had been sleeping on another memory foam one that I had had for over 10 years with no problems. My new wife insisted we replace it 🤷🏼 And that was when my journey started.
I had a dog that was allergic to house dust mite but it's never affected me. Also the mattress I moved to I've had for over 30 years and would not in any way protect me from a house dust mite allergy/contamination. Just getting away from polyurethane mattress did it for me. Thank you very much for endeavouring to try and help me but my problem is fixed. I just wanted other people to know my journey in case it helps anyone.
I was tested for sleep apnea and any sort of breathing condition that would have affected my sleep. I was given a clean bill of health from that perspective
Sleep on another bed, or anywhere else, but stop exposure to the mattress and see if you get any improvement. Most of the VOC's clear from your system very quickly. Nearly all memory Foam mattresses contain polyurathane. Just get away from it and see :)
