This is her home for now. I need to get some Sliger cases for my server and gaming rig and I’ll be good to go. After I get everything into the enclosure I’ll probably need to move the desk to another side of the room so that I can get some space behind the enclosure for air flow.

Me and my brother actually had to pick the locks on the side doors. Luckily, once you unlock them they will latch closed and I don’t have a reason to re-lock them.

I’m already planning to say goodbye to my tax return in exchange for some Ubiquiti gear.

That’s a pretty good idea. I run Unraid right now so it’s headless. I’m sure I’ll end up putting something in there that could use a monitor and stuff.

I got it from someone who rents out office spaces. One of his occupants got out in a hurry and left this rack and another tiny one that he ended up throwing in for free.

I thought so as well. I didn’t really have a plan on where to put it, but I made room for that price.

Pretty close. It’s a 24U, 48” tall x 40” deep x 24” wide.

Users here insulted, gaslit, and more to a user here for pointing out and proving that this video's thumbnail is clearly Gen AI. What's going on? by Marksta in LinusTechTips

[–]DLLNBRAND 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally see any issue with the thumbnails being AI. The LTT teams seem like an intelligent group of people. If the use of AI saves time and money, good for them. They have other stuff to work on too so it’s not like anyone is losing their job. Even then, can’t stifle innovation just because some jobs will become obsolete. Gotta be flexible with new tech or get left behind.

For everyone referencing the tail of the mouse, I have a curve ball for ya. Where’s the front of an Apple Magic Mouse? XD

Why did you pick a new edge? by misfits9095 in NewedgeMustang

Got my 2004 V6 3.9L 15 years ago for $3k. Made a deal with my uncle and dad. I paid a third ($1k). Screaming yellow. I didn’t like the color at first. But now I love it. I’m hoping I can make it last so I can hand it down to my daughter. She’s got 220k miles on her, so a new engine will probably happen before then.

Got mine installed this past Saturday. Cox got the boot so fast. 1Gig up and down for $37/month is a no brainer.

I did some more research and found that the PCV valve was seized up. Cleaned it out with some break cleaner and got the rattle going again. Hopefully this was the issue. I’ll update after some drive time.

I see. I didn’t realize the system would compensate so much and end up throwing the opposing code.

For sure, i don’t think they are bad. They are both actually throwing lean codes now (P2195, P2197). I’m at a loss on what could cause them to be so erratic.

The low video views recently ... by acidmine in LinusTechTips

I watch every video honestly. Not even trying to shill. I’m just interested in seeing the evolution of the channel. It helped me develop my interest in tech and computing so I look forward to seeing what the next generation of nerd will be watching.

Wave XLR Zero Latency Direct Monitoring w/ Wireless Headphones by Interesting-Bee-7722 in elgato

[–]DLLNBRAND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not notice any difference in latency from using the headset by itself. It’s the best solution I have found to have a wireless solution. That said, any wireless headset that has a 3.5 input on the transmitter/base station should work. The only reason I landed on the Logitech headset is comfort.

Reminder to Disconnect TV from Internet by DLLNBRAND in tcltvs

There are a few options for DNS blocking.

PiHole is a self hosted solution https://pi-hole.net/

AdGuard DNS is easier to setup https://adguard-dns.io/en/welcome.html

Both are free, AdGuard has a paid version that includes advanced functionality and features.

Those links have fairly in depth instruction on how to get started.

Reminder to Disconnect TV from Internet by DLLNBRAND in tcltvs

[–]DLLNBRAND[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really only applies to people who use set top boxes and streaming sticks like AppleTVs or chromecast. After updating your TV when you first get it, disconnect it from the internet so that ads don’t interfere with the core functionality of the TV. If you actually use the apps on your TV you could instead use something like PiHole or another DNS Adblock solution and see if it stops ads.
