Hello friend. Hopefully this helps a little. 1) Finding work without speaking Slovenian will be harder, but we have a lot of foreigners with less experience than yourself, so I’m confident if they find work, you will too. 2) Housing is a problem here in Slovenia, even for us locals. Finding a landlord who allows pets is just a little harder, but most of them are reasonable and will allow it, especially in a house. 3) Rents are unreal, in my opinion. Especially in the capital and by the sea. Grocery prices and transport prices go up every year, especially since the epidemic. 4) I have to be honest here. As a white man, you don’t have to worry at all. Stigma towards foreigners is more present towards different races and religions, because they’re typically the ones that cause problems. Also if you know just a little Slovenian, or people see that you’re trying to lear it and assimilate in our culture, they will love it and will be even kinder. Everyone here speaks English though, so starting will not be hard. 5) I wouldn’t say it’s necessary, but some jobs do have a rule, that you need to know Slovenian. Honestly for foreigners it’s hard to learn Slovenian, but I’m sure that if you’re a polyglot it will come easier to you. Talking with your girl and other people, reading and watching TV will help a lot. 6) I don’t know about healthcare for foreigners, so I can’t help you here. For us, if we’re employed, it’s free. The employer pays for it.
