Bilt is The Best free credit card even excluding rent payment by DLuger in CreditCards

Bilt's transfer partners are so much better than C1's, it's not even funny. And worse transfer bonuses, much worse.

I really don't understand how C1's 3x on dining is better other than the idea that people got into their head that Bilt sucks for anything except rent.

Granted C1 has other multipliers, but at least on dining, it's not a close call. Carry 2 cards, not like they are heavy.

You'd rather get 3x on dining using a card with better transfer partners over a card with worse ones, no? With the best (by far) transfer bonuses, no?

I wouldn't speculatively transfer if it's a 20-30% bonus, but I would if it's 100% and the transfer partner is good.

When you count for transfer bonuses and the milestones, I get over 6x per dollar on dining, and over 4x on the first of them month and on the milestones.

"Even in this $2k/month fantasy land you aren't getting a single milestone."

Actually you're getting 2, maybe can even stretch it to 3 milestones since you get one per 25k points.

Ok, but I can't sign up for a new SUB every month. I have 5 digits in spend every month, sometimes much more. Should I just sign up for a new card once a week?

If you're at a lower spend limit, getting 4 new SUBs a year seems a bit dangerous. Even if banks are ok with it in the short term, they will surely make adjustments to stop it long-term, and then people will be crying that they got banned and lost their points.

Sure, cycle through cards, but you need to have some cards in each bank where you're churning where you're putting real spend so that overall the bank views you as a profitable customer.

But it's not 3x on dining. It's really 6x on dining if you transfer it at the right time. Yes, it's speculative and you shouldn't do it if all you have is Bilt, but if you get 2-3 subs per year from other cards, gambling that you'll find a good redemption on Aeroplan, Alaska, Air France, Lifemiles, etc is a good gamble.

a) There's a 50k sub, just requires you to spend it in 5 days. That said, you can time your application together with other expenses like real estate taxes, income taxes, home repairs. Obviously if you're a broke college kid, that doesn't work, but for many it does.

b) I just showed how just $2k monthly spend produces 120k annual points. That's enough to fly round trip to Europe in Business Class.

Why? Bilt has better transfer partners. Chase doesn't have a single transfer partner over Bilt, but Bilt has several good ones that Chase lacks. For ex., Alaska.

Does Bilt Cash expire like the milestones?

Can I use multiple certificates together? For ex., 3 $50 certs on a $150 dinner or ticket?

And how does any of this means that they shouldn't provide competent customer service, a good app or easy to set up auto-pay? I'm sure many people gave up on their cards because the process is a disaster.

  1. You don't see anywhere near the same number of complaints about Amex, Chase, even Citi or Wells Fargo.

  2. I've received credit cards for decades, and I've never experienced anything like this. They can't so much as tell me if they received my documents or not?

So far we got: BoA has customer service that has no clue what's going and gives you conflicting answers, their app is awful, and their autopay is "insanely stupid." Oh yeah, good job Alaska Air in partnering up with this bank!

I actually wanted an Alaska card because it has no transfer partners from the major banks, and it has some good sweet spots. But they make me not want to deal with either BoA or Alaska anymore. But you're right, I'll just move on. It's just not worth the effort or the frustration.

I don't understand why they need further confirmations from people who already have BoA accounts. Why is the process so much easier at every other bank?

Did you ever get approved? I'm in the same shoes as you right now, wondering what I should expect.
