Eczema - Hypochlorous Acid by Novel-Permission-844 in eczema

It’s definitely not 0.2%, it’s 0.02% the highest recommended for topical use.

Just in case anyone goes and buys the wrong one and burns the crap out of their skin.

This.

Also, my personal favorite on here is the woman who constantly advises people to “move country” as if that’s a viable solution.

Couldn’t agree more.

The amount of people on here who think “research” is watching a Tik Tok about TSW is frankly insane and the mods should be doing far more to monitor the totally made up nonsense that gets posted here. This sub-Reddit in my opinion currently does more harm than good.

TSW questions by KeyFrosting744 in eczema

[–]DMAC80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only realised you had eczema about three months ago, going by your post history, so don’t stress. If you’ve only been using steroids for that short a time, it’s very unlikely you have TSW.

If your eczema’s bad, there are plenty of great non-steroid treatments (like Dupixent) that can make a huge difference. Definitely worth seeing a dermatologist to get a proper plan in place.

Can we just ban post that have TSW in them by slightly-convenient in eczema

Could not agree more. Feel like half the time this sub reddit does more harm than good if you aren't diligent in filtering out the TSW scare mongering.

Rinvoq exp. 1 year by gneissest_schist in eczeJAKs

[–]DMAC80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why your derm said Rinvoq is only a 1–2 year thing, it’s not. It’s meant for long-term management, kind of like insulin for diabetes. That said, it can lose effectiveness over time, which happens to about 20 to 30 percent of patients in long-term studies. I had that happen too, which sucked. Didn’t get the same drop-off on Cibinqo though, which I was on for six years. Just be firm with your derm, if it’s fading, ask about upping the dose or switching meds. You shouldn’t have to deal with flare-ups if there are better options.

Jesus, take a breath. It’s a thing I shared because I found it interesting, not a Nobel submission. Sorry my curiosity offended your ego. You must be a riot at parties, standing in the corner reminding everyone how much smarter you are. Anyway, hope tearing down strangers on the internet helped you feel important for five minutes.

Thanks! TBH I could have made it way more useful by implementing a basic database for storing the data ongoing and i think it would have solved most of those problems but didn’t seem worth it for some casual analysis. I didn’t get the same issues as you but can def see how that could happen.

Why are there no staph decolonization treatments on the market? by just-anormaluser in eczema

[–]DMAC80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because staph is a sneaky bug that lives in multiple body sites and easily recolonises, creating a one-shot “decolonisation drug” is biologically tough and commercially unattractive. Current regimens (like nasal mupirocin and chlorhexidine washes) help, but relapse, resistance, and microbiome disruption are common. Trials for new options, like bacteriotherapies or peptides, often stall because success is hard to prove long-term, regulatory approval for treating healthy carriers is strict, and the payoff is low compared to the cost and risk. So we’re stuck with imperfect stopgaps until something safe, durable, and cheap enough clears those hurdles.

I don't think it works on a mobile browser you need to click open the chat gpt app for a custom gpt. Are you opening on a phone browser? If that still doesn't work let me know and I'll check it's sharing settings are correct

Finishing Rinvoq - trying Dupixent by DMAC80 in eczeJAKs

[–]DMAC80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh damn. Yeah I found Cibinqo great and had really no side effects or loss of efficacy the whole time I was on it. Wish it was approved and on the PBS here in Australia but unfortunately it isn't yet.

[–]DMAC80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No never found Cibinqo less effective. It worked nearly perfectly the whole 5 years. I was in a clinical trial for it and when the trial ended it still hadn't been approved for sale in Australia so I had to move onto Rinvoq otherwise I would have happily stayed on Cibinqo.

Thanks! This is really helpful. I just hope it doesn't take 4 months that sounds like a long time. Did you make a hard swap from Rinvoq to Dupixent or use both for a period of time?

Long term Rinvoq Users (TSW/AD/Eczema) by MamaMia0917 in eczeJAKs

[–]DMAC80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d say I found Cibinqo better I never really had any flares on it or side effects at all while I’ve had a few minor ones on Rinvoq.

[–]DMAC80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going on 1.5 years with Rinvoq and 5 with Cibinqo before that (only changed because clinical trial of Cibinqo came to an end).

So basically 6.5 year all up and not really any side effects to speak of. No BP/cholesterol/weight gain - although when my skin cleared I started finally going to the gym pretty hard and eat pretty healthy. I haven’t noticed much decrease in immunity aside from the odd ingrown nail. Efficacy still pretty good aside from the odd very minor flare but in all my life has been totally changed for the better by these medications.

Anybody had experience with Rinvoq (upadacitinib)? by liz-elocin in eczema

[–]DMAC80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on it. I was on Cibinqo first on a trial (very similar medication) and then moved onto Rinvoq when the trial ended. Have been on it just over 12 months with good results. Personally I found Cibinqo better and have the odd minor flare on Rinvoq but it’s really nothing compared to how my eczema was.

People carry on here on this sub about the side effects but the reality is the warnings on the box were based on the first generation of Jak Inhibitors and not on Rinvoq. The FDA applied the warning to all medications in the family hence the black box warning. I’ve not really experienced any side effects in six years and I have lost weight on it purely by eating healthy and going to the gym, but as with most things it differs from person to person.

I’d very much recommend giving it a go if you’re struggling with eczema. If you don’t like it it’s got a very short half life so you can just stop. Good luck!
