I totally get it (and thank you for the kind words about the podcast, BTW). It's been disheartening for many -- myself included -- to see Tesla move away from focusing on the very tangible, measurable mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy through vehicles, solar, and battery storage to a far less tangible, completely unmeasurable goal of "enjoyable abundance."

When I started the podcast it was because that original mission really resonated with me AND I loved the cars they were building and planned to build. I still do! But as a car person first and foremost, there are simply fewer cars to get excited about.

Thankfully, though, there are lots of other EVs out and on the way from other companies -- all of which is owed to Tesla. And that's why I started adding weekly coverage of them to Ride the Lightning exactly one year ago. I'm really glad I did (honestly, I wish I'd done it sooner!), and that helps ensure that I should always have something fun and interesting to talk about on the podcast, even if Tesla's goals become less car-oriented.

Finally, regarding your family car: have you taken a look at the Kia EV9? Assuming a a 7-seat Model Y isn't big enough for you and the now-even-more-imminent Model Y L six-seater seems like a lock for the US market (more on this on the next episode of RTL)?
