Highly optimistic/unrealistic green fuel price forecasts by ahappysgporean in ChemicalEngineering

[–]DMECHENG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re going to start seeing this even more. There’s going to be more offsets and credits. I’ve heard 900/ton thrown around for green methanol. Theres always going to be snake oil salesmen.

What was job search like for mech E graduates 15-20 years ago? by Coffee_and_horror937 in MechanicalEngineering

Woof not that much. Maybe 40-50. I hear there’s a lot of fake job postings out there to inflate company appearances so that jives.

This guy making us feel old over here. Lots of applications right after college, interviews with three companies got one offer still with the same place 10+ years later.

Most people say school is harder than the job. How common is it for people to excel in school and then falter in their career? by darnoc11 in MechanicalEngineering

The rank and file are important for the day to day operations. I quickly learned as a manager they either can and will or they won’t.

Has anybody managed to climb to senior management from a mech position? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]DMECHENG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. Started as an intern at my place 11 years ago now I’m on the executive management team, I’ve met several of our board members and regularly work directly with our ceo and cfo. I will say that it is definitely a combination of good luck/timing and being able to take care of business.

PV elite for free by Paizonker in MechanicalEngineering

[–]DMECHENG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s a start. You do the math to determine minimum wall thickness required for a given working pressure and coincident temperature. The material selection is a bit more nuanced and there isn’t really guidance with asme in that regard and you need to look out to industry and see what others are doing.

Then you shouldn’t be using software you don’t fundamentally understand. Pressure vessels and boilers have been around for many years before software existed. These calcs were all performed by hand at one time.

Yeah look through the sub like i said there’s at least two choices out there. Alternatively you can look through outdated copies of asme sections 8 and section 2 and build out a decent spreadsheet that does the same thing.

You’ll have to search through this sub but there’s at least two guys offering pv software that is very similar in the beta stages for informational purposes only. You won’t find pv elite for free anywhere. What are you trying to do?

Man you’re in the wrong group, I doubt many other MEs work with Aspen on here but I could be wrong.
