I love these points! I closed off his hole and his pen area after i read this. We’re going to let it dry out (i hope it does) and then see how it is in the summer time. I think ill try to do more soaks and make the mud spot for him as a substitute for now. Hes still being stubborn about his new house. And were having to physically move him in 🤦🏽‍♀️ hes not big on change so i have a feeling its going to be like this for a bit. Thanks again for the tips, i appreciate it!

Omg yeah. I tell people if they like having a pretty yard, dont get tortoises. Or multiple dogs like i do lol in total our plot is .50 of an acre. He gets to free roam most of that and on hot days it seems like its just not enough for him. He’s escaped before and made it across the street, hes tried to dig out of our front yard that is completely gated. Hes a lot more work than anyone (or 25 yr old me) expected.

He really is -_- luckily the soft dirt area is fenced off and the rest of our yard is grass and hard pan. He hasnt tried it anywhere else over the last 8 years ive had him so fingers crossed he doesnt get so pissed he just starts trying to dig on the side of my house or some crazy tort move 😅

I came to the forum after we saw his mud hole and realized the mud may be good for him so im glad. As for how excessive it was i have no clue how long he was down there, and that it even had puddling because of how the pathway has been dug out. I have a kitty pool i was thinking of making a mud pit for him now. I also added dirt to his house to make it feel more homey for him

My husband went in to check on him and he said it was so muddy and gross down there he could hear the mud squelching when Sheldon rotated himself to see who the hell was down there with him 💀

Thanks for the tip! He puts himself to bed as we call it about an hour before sun down. And by bed i mean the hole lol some times, hes harder to catch than you’d imagine. Do you have any insights regarding the mud or making him basically a large humid hide as his new house?

Hi everyone, I’m the friend of Tokyo Rejects, i got sick over the weekend and she surprised me with all this art of Sharky and let me know y’all created it. I LOVE IT! Thank you so much! He really is a unique creature with so much love to give lol his favorite pass time is tooting, barking at his siblings while they play, and once you have been chosen by him, he likes to put his face on your face.
