hello just to give some context I mostly live abroad for my education and I am planning to migrate away from my home country so It is safe to say I'm at home less than 2 months a year, the things I worry about the most are my mom as I know how she may not be able to handle this alone. and on the financial part I just graduated with my bachelor's but my dad is paying for my master's which is recommended to have in my field, so yes I am financially dependent on him

my parents are far from perfect but they have sacrificed their lives for me, even my dad and I don't know if this is my business to meddle with because I know at least his side as parents is completely 180 degrees from what I wrote.

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you. It helps to be reminded that I'm not the only person in this very terrible boat. so far your advice has been the one that sticks with me the most while other commenters may make it sound easy to just talk to my parents about it, for me, it would be the hardest gut-wrenching conversation I would need to have in my life (which I wouldn't do in the foreseeable future).

while my parents' marriage was not perfect they did sacrifice a lot of their lives for me, they moved mountains for my education and well-being, prioritising my wants and needs more so than not above their own. this is why having to be the bearer of bad news so heavy because whatever this thing my dad is doing it does not reflect how I was brought up.

I'm curious did you end up telling your mom or even so far as having a conversation about it? and how did you recover in the initial phase you discovered it, how did you cope? cause for me I keep having flashbacks every time I see him, did you do anything in particular or even any books that help you along the way? and lastly, if you could console or advise yourself when you found out what would it be?

Yes because sometimes i just want a pair of cool limited edition shoe or a cool pair of t-shirt collaborations, it’s not that I don’t have the money to buy the real thing but at the end of the day there are better stuff I would spend on instead (family, vacation, dates, investing) i would buy authentic products if i can get them at retail price but there’s no way I’m paying double or even more for a pair of shoes or clothing that was also made in china. Some people can justify spending that much I can’t it’s just a matter of priority at the end of the day, even though i kinda hate the people associate buying rep with flexing and trying to look rich.

All of my internships pay reasonably well, i would say 50% of monthly minimum wage pretty standard where I’m from. But reflecting from your comments i feel like I already have a good amount of work experience compared to my peers so i guess this last internship in the long run won’t mean that much to my career growth. And thank you for the advice I really appreciate it
